Hyperwave is out!
![]() Finally, after over an year, the battle against the evil aliens invaders continues with Hyperwave, the new game of the hyper-series created by the same team of Hyperlight! Hyperwave combines the mechanics of classic arcade games such as Space Invaders and Galaga with those of modern sci-fi shooters like Geometry Wars, Infinity Field or Super Crossfire, offering a both familiar and innovative gameplay which includes all the elements that make great a traditional shoot 'em up, but reproposed in a different context in which a strong strategic component is added to fast-paced action that we expect from this type of game. Your goal will be to defend the last defensive shield that protects humanity by destroying all the endless waves of cosmic enemies before they can damage it. But do not worry! Hyperwave’s space-fighter is really strong and is able to enhance its attack power significantly also using a wide assortment of weapons, special-powers and useful friends drones that will give you an hand in the difficult mission of containing the alien horde. ★ Features ★

Great looking shmup, although I think the perspective will take a little getting used to.
I'm also wondering how the controls are on the iPad, since the arrows for controlling Left/Right movement and Left/Right shooting are pretty far apart. |

hellz yes! Hyperlight is right up there in my 'Dodge' folder with Silverfish, Spirit, Tilt To Live, Tilt To Fly and Flip Ship. Can't wait to check this one out. So glad we're finally getting a couple new shmups... this & DDPM, after such a long time without anything really hitting the genre over the last couple months.
WOOHOO!!! Looks like this is gonna be a damn good week. |

@bramblett05 : sorry, at this time we did not plan any lite version.
@strivemind : We optimized the game for iPad and iPhone 5 screens in a way that controls are always comfortable to the player. |

Great game, really enjoying this. Can you please include option to flip the screen in a future update though? I tend to block the speaker on my phone when I'm playing in it's current locked position.

Played for about 15 minutes and here are my initial thoughts.
While the graphical eye-candy is quite satisfying, the controls leave a lot to be desired. Despite the angling of the turret, the flow from side to side seems unresponsive and stuck. The ship doesn't glide across and sometimes it feels as if the L-R arrows' coverage is a bit small. There isn't much forgiveness if my finger/thumb strays off-center. If the controls were tweaked a bit, the game would become that much more enjoyable. |
