Puzzle Editor For Lumen

Hey,

A new version of my puzzle game, Lumen, has been added to the App Store. New in this version is the ability to create and share your own puzzles right from the device! Also, you can now vote for your favorite puzzles so the good puzzles will be much easier to find.

You can try Lumen Lite (AppStore) to learn how to play for free. If you like it, the full version of Lumen (AppStore) is only $1.99!

Many of the features in Lumen came directly from user suggestions. If you have any ideas for improvements I would love to hear them!

oops wrong post:.....yes I have Lumen and like the update. Puzzle Editor is a welcome edition. Not sure if I have enough creativity to create my own maps but perhaps I'll give it a go.

I too own this game and think it's one of the best puzzle games in the App Store.
Like mrbass, I don't think I'm creative enough to attempt my own puzzle, but I very much appreciate the "puzzle ranker"

I have this game but never play it because it seems there's a point where no matter what color filter you try to add to the chain, the color doesn't change. I must be missing something here....

If I understand you correctly, it's because you can only change it to a particular colour once. It sounds to me like you're possibly trying to change the colour multiple times.
In essence, once you've changed the laser to red and then blue, you can't change it back to red. Therefore, you have to have the laser go through all the reds at once, then blue etc.
Does that make any more sense? If I misunderstood, I apologize in advance.

You have the idea there. However, because both red and blue (and green) are primary colors, you can't make red into blue or blue into red ever. A red laser and a blue filter make a purple laser, and, just like you were explaining, the purple laser cannot be changed back to red. You can change the purple laser to white by adding green, but cannot then change the white laser back down to purple or red.

This has been confusing, so it is covered in the training video now available from within the game.

Unfortunately, even after having played many of the puzzles in this game, I *STILL* find it confusing. The idea of mixing coloured lights and the idea that [red + blue + green = white] or [red + green = yellow] is not something that comes naturally to me. I never studied or specialised in this particular science, and I suspect a lot of other players like me fall into this category.
What we *DO* all know however, is the idea of mixing colour pigments, ie: [red + yellow = orange] or [yellow + blue = green] - we all started mixing coloured crayons when we were just babies.
As such, is there any possibility you could consider changing the way the colours mix? And yes, yes, I *KNOW* that goes against the whole idea of the game and its use of light-beams, but if it could be a toggle-able option to switch between mixing lights or mixing pigments, I personally would find playing this game much less frustrating.
Maybe it's just me and my brain's refusal to learn this, but hey, I thought I'd chuck my two cents in here anyway...

I actually very much have to agree with you BrettArchibald. The part I find hardest (other than actually solving the puzzle of course) is racking my brain to understand the colour combination, which as you mentioned is not something that comes naturally.
Whether it's something that will or will not be taken into consideration, I think that was a fantastic suggestion.

Glad to hear it's not just me then!
Yeah, the challenge part of the game should exclusively be solving the puzzles, not figuring out how to work with the elements of the UI...
