Great threads, but a lot of them are old!

Blue attack and blue defense are good. And in your price range.

True that they are old, but they could be revived instead of starting new ones. The funny thing is that even when someone starts a new thread like this, half the games that end up getting listed are old anyway

My problem is that I'm really new to the iDevice scene, so for me all games are pretty much new

Strategery is cheap and a lot of fun.

If you like thinking/strategy, and your budget is $2, then I recommend saving $3 on food this week and getting 7 Cities (tower defense but with a lot of options/depth) for $5 It has a free version too.

For thinking and physical problem-solving, Fantastic Contraption is great. But you'd need to save an additional $2 to afford it!

Galcon is a simple, rapid strategy game with free and $5 versions.

This has already been said, but I feel like reiterating. If you want a cheap game that will keep you amused for a very long time, get blue attack and blue defense. They are 1.99 and .99 respectively and are incredibly addicting and offer great re playability. Keep in mind though that blue attack is a much more in depth experience, while blue defense is something that you can pick up and play at any time.

Thanks for the reminder about Blue Attack--I'm downloading it now. (I wouldn't call those "thinking" games as requested by the OP, though.)
