Has anyone heard about a port of The Settlers to the iPad

Personally I'd be surprised. While the iPhone game reviewed well, it didn't sell that well so there's little reason for Gameloft to spend money rejazzing it for iPhone.

More likely would be a new game in the Settlers series being made for iPad and then downjazzed to iPhone, which is want's happening with NOVA 2.

You might be right, but given that it started out as a PC game, they might not have as much work to do rejazzing it. They already have the better/bigger graphical elements.

I think it might not have had such great sales because it didn't work that well on the small screen. Perhaps a quick port to a larger screen would generate some sales.
