Default Best space combat game?

I got Black Space today as others were talking about it on the forum, but that was before I knew there was a demo of Galaxy on Fire. And I've got to say, I like Galaxy on Fire better. Black Space is by no means a bad game and worth the $1.99 I paid for it, but GoF beats it graphically, combat wise, etc. )at least what I could get out of the demo).

I'm surprised that Galaxy on Fire has actually been going up in price (now $5.99 once $2.99 and $4.99). Is the full game worth it?

Are there better space combat games out there? If so, any suggestions (and no I don't consider WarpGate a space combat game)?

Space Miner
Alpha Wars (I think that's what it's called)
Battle for Vesta

Have Space Miner. Again, not really what I consider a space shooter. That's almost a micro-management game (and a very good one). But the combat is top down. I'm talking arcade-like space sims where you're either first person in the ship or right behind it.

I'd highly recommend Star Rangers, it's a hi-def remake of Star Raiders, with additional missions. Absolutely brilliant game, one of my favorites.

Star Wars Trench Run, I've never played it and heard mixed reviews. Check it out.

Agreed. Good game. Have it and like it, but it's also on-rails so it's not a true space sim (don't want too complex, but like to be able to fly my own ship).

Anyway, I have quite a few of the games mentioned and maybe will wait on Galaxy on Fire until it drops in price again.
