DESCRIPTION

Vector Rally is reincarnation of a very popular pen and paper game played in schools in the 70's and 80's and now you can play it on your iDevice!

The goal of the game is simple: find the shortest possible racing line (perfect line) from start to finish.

It may sound simple, but perfecting the track requires a lot of thinking and strategy!

GAME RULES

Players move cars from one grid point to another in turns. Each turn they can choose from one of the nine available neighboring grid points.

Depending on selection, each turn player can increase speed by one square, decrease by one or maintain same speed.

As in real life racing, you need to accelerate and decelerate in proper times, so watch out for tight corners, come in too fast and you're history!

Players also receive penalties if their car drives outside the track boundaries, stops in the same spot as opponents car or hits the wall.

Player with the least turns/penalties wins the game.

Play against CPU or challenge your family and friends for even more fun! Up to 4 players can play on the same device or on local network via Wi-Fi/Bluetooth.

KEY FEATURES

- 7 unique hand-painted race tracks (more will be added via updates)

- single player mode

- multi player mode on one device in pass and play mode

- multi player mode via Bluetooth (OS version 3.0 and above is required)

- multi player mode on local network via Wi-Fi (OS version 3.1 and above is required)

About the Game

Vector Rally is a turn based logic racing game which simulates a car race around the track. Cars move from one grid point to another by using vectors, e.g a move of 3 squares to the right and 2 square up can be described by a vector x(3, 2).

Cars move by the rules of inertia and traction and those reminds of how real racing cars moves around the track so you should always plan ahead, e.g start slowing down at the right time before dangerous turns, choose the best racing line to move efficiently etc.

For each move you can select one of eight available neighboring points (little blue circles in the screenshots). Actual move is performed by touching one of the big blue circles in the lower left of the screen.

During each consecutive move player can increase speed by one square, maintain same speed or decelerate as required.

The player who finishes track in least score possible wins the game. Score is made of total turns made and also penalties received. You can be penalized if your car moves outside the track (+1), crashes into another car (+1) or hits the wall (+2).

Different traction rules applies if you race on rough surface of the track - grass, dirt etc. In this case some move points will be disabled and your speed will be decreased by one square each move. If you hit the wall your car will stop immediately.

This game is not only a good fun to play together with your family or friends, but it can also be used as a teaching tool about vectors!

Please ask any questions, will be more than happy to answer them!
I will also release game play video soon, hopefully it will make more sense about mechanics of the game.

thank you, a lot of sleepless nights went into making it.

You won't believe how much work there is to make even a simple game!

And it doesn't end there, now I won't sleep because of worries, will people like or will they hate it?

Will try to finally make game play video tonight for those who are not sure about game mechanics.

It looks really good, but mind telling me how to play ? It seems like you decide whigh coordinate your car will move to with that blue grid. But is it all in real-time or is it like turn based?

The 15 second reading I did about the game from your thread in the upcoming games really grabbed my attention. Getting ready to do housework, but will read more carefully when I get done. May pick this one up soon, as it sounds like something I would really enjoy. Thanks, and congrats on the release.

It is a turn based. Your car moves from one grid point to another and each move can be described by a vector. (Some say this game can be used as teaching tool about vectors

For example, a move (2,4) means 2 grid squares right and 4 up. Each move you can increase speed by one square, decrease by one or maintain the same speed.

So you have to be careful, accelerate too fast and you won't make that corner and smash into the wall.

The goal is simple - find the best (perfect) racing line around the track in least turns. For each turn you get +1 added to score. There is also penalties, for example stopping at same spot occupied by opponents car +1, smashing into the wall +2 etc.

One thing is for sure - this game is a lot of fun to play against human opponents either in pass & play mode on same iDevice or via local Wifi/Bluetooth (up to 4 players).

Please ask more questions, more than happy to answer.

Ooh, bad news guys. I tried to download the game, and two things happened.

I tried to download it on my iPod and searched it on the App Store, and there were no matches.

But it seems to work on iTunes...tried to download it, wouldn't work.

Any help? I'd LOVE to play the game, but i don't always have wifi to check to see if its in my store or something, hah!

A quick post that i chuckled a bit at in the Lounge.
