http://hadthoughtaboutit.blogspot.co...westworld.html Here is my newest film review for anyone who is interested.
Also watched the first Trancers movie but I didn't bother reviewing that because honestly, I really enjoyed it, but it could have done with some exposition because it basically had none. Also, God, I forgot Helen Hunt used to be babe. Is it worth watching the sequels or should I just leave it at one? |

I'd check out Futureworld too simply because it's completely insane. Two reporters are sent to uncover a conspiracy at the rebuilt theme park only to discover it's now being run entirely by robots. It has a dream sequence where one of the characters dances with the Yul Brenner robot from the first movie that inexplicably has nothing to do with anything. If you manage to make it all the way through it does have one of my favorite end scenes of all time though.

![]() And I heard Futureworld was awful. But then I didn't enjoy the first one as a whole, so maybe I'll like the sequel. |

When most people think about futureworld they usually focus on the fact that it doesn't make any sense and is radically different from the first movie. It's sillier then Westworld, a lot of things don't line up or simply seem to be thrown in for no reason. It's the type of movie you go "WTF did I just watch" after seeing it for the first time. I'd never claim it was a "good" movie but I enjoyed it enough to import the Italian DVD (Mundo Futuro!) before it became available on DVD in the states.

I just watched Oblivion which is the most literal "space cowboy" movie I've ever seen. A pacifist empath cowboy and a Native American take down a gang made up of an alien, a Xena knock off with a whip, a Canadian fur trapper, and a gay mariachi which is odd since the movie takes place on anther planet in the 31st century. The absolute highlight of the film is George Takei as the town doctor. In his first scene he's finishing off a bottle of Jim Beam and says "Jim Beam me up!" before smashing the bottle. Later on he exclaims "great scotty!" during a fight and asks for a trichorder which turns out to just be a small medical kit. The star trek references are so out of place I decided to look it up, it turns out Takei ad-libbed them and they just let him do it since he's the biggest name actor in the movie.

Saw RPA and The Help today. Definitely was not impressed with RPA. The visuals were nice, but I can't say I enjoyed much else about it. The ending was far from satisfactory, and I can't say I'm looking forward to the sequel the teaser in the credits hinted at. On the other hand, The Help has to be one of my favorite films of the summer. Moving, funny, and powerful describe the film perfectly in my opinion. With an incredible lead cast and a plot that's at least above par, The Help has to be my favorite drama so far in 2011. Not sure why, but dramas that revolve around African-Americans have nearly always peaked my interest. Precious is another favorite of mine. But yeah, Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer put on an outstanding performance. Emma Stone wasn't half bad either. Pretty decent end to this summer's films.

Finally saw The Prestige today.
Holy shit..and I thought Inception was good. This movie is on the same level as The Dark Knight for Nolan's work. Damn, I've been missing out. You guys were right; that was an amazing film. |

It's also probably the most elegant timeline screw Nolan has accomplished (seriously, Inception has layers within layers and Memento is backwards, but The Prestige has flashbacks within flashbacks, essentially creating a spiral). None of this distracts from the story, and rather enhances it. I love it.
