Out of sheer curiosity, why aren't profile pics allowed?

Abuse, takes space on server, I'm sure other reasons.

Yeah, probably abuse, trying to moderate the images would be a real challenge. Server space shouldn't matter too much, as I'm sure TA has unlimited server space.

and though it is nice how quickly all the pages load because of the lack of adds and avatars.. Maybe if they were REALLY small, that would be fun, and you couldn't be too complicated, maybe 64x64 pixels

I can understand not having them. I have my own busy forum. And trying to read through a thread when you've got animated avatars, and bright avatars can be very difficult. Which is why I've turned them off. Plus, as was said before, the pages load a lot quicker, especially to someone like me on 56K.
