Trainyard: A Puzzle Solving Game

Features:

+ Innovative and challenging puzzle mechanic
+ Smooth difficulty curve
+ 100 puzzles plus bonus puzzles
+ Hundreds of ways to solve each puzzle
+ Easily share your unique solutions on Trainyard.ca
+ Engineered for low battery usage
+ OS 2.2.1 compatible

Trainyard is a puzzle solving game unlike any that you've ever played. It's easy to learn but very tough to master. Your job is simple: get each train to a goal station. Red trains go to red stations, blue trains go to blue stations, etc. You control the trains by drawing track for them to follow. There isn't a time limit or even a score; the only thing you need to do is figure out a solution for each puzzle.

The first few puzzles are almost too easy, but as the difficulty increases you'll be thankful that you had the chance to master the fundamentals of drawing track. As the game progresses, you'll have to use basic colour theory to combine trains of different colours, use timing to merge and split trains, and use every inch of your brain in your quest to beat the game.

Initial price(not going to change for a while) - $1.99

It's coming out on Thursday! (well actually wednesday at midnight)

I think you guys will really like it, I've been working on it for a long long time

Ask me whatever questions you have here, I'll be glad to answer them!

PS: Not looking for beta testers anymore, but the forum did some weird merging thing with my posts so I can't change the name of this one, hah

Sent you a PM. Looks intriguing, but I can't really be certain what the gameplay involves. Looks like you lay down tracks to send trains from one station to another based on shapes and colors?

Yep that's pretty close. Basically certain "outlet" stations(the ones with the plusses on top) send out trains, which you have to get to the "goal" stations(the ones with the circles on top).

It starts off simple, but these aren't exactly ordinary trains Eventually you have to do things like mixing primary colours to make secondary colours(ie red+yellow=orange), and that sort of thing. There's also a piece called a "splitter" that can turn a secondary coloured train back into two primary coloured trains.

It probably seems confusing right now, but there are a bunch of mini-tutorials in the game that'll gradually ease you into it.

So... Like Aargon, only with trains instead of lasers. Sounds cool.

Haha yep, I used to love that game

One of the key differences between this and Aargon is that timing is very important here. The other key difference is that in Trainyard, you don't do anything but draw track. All the other pieces/stations are stuck to the board so you can't move them. There are no scores/timers/limits either, the only thing that matters is whether it's solved or not, but there are thousands of ways to solve most of the puzzles, so there's definitely no single "right" solution

Unfortunately not yet, I'm too busy putting the finishing touches on the game! After the beta testing is over, I'll make a better TouchArcade post(or update this one) with a trailer and some gameplay vids.
