The first 3D games device, requires no 3D glasses!

    http://e3.nintendo.com/3ds/

3DS software lineup trailer (Kid Icarus, Nintendogs, Zelda OoT, MGS3, SSFIV, 2 Resident Evil games, etc):

    3DS

    Release date:
    JPN - Feb 26 2011
    USA - March 2011
    EUR - March 2011

    Retail price:
    JPN - 25000Y
    USA - TBA
    EUR - TBA
*remember, direct currency converting isn't how it goes, previous
Nintendo products are more expensive in Japan compared to elsewhere

    In the box:
    - 3DS hardware unit (in Aqua Blue or Cosmo Black)
    - Removable telescopic stylus
    - 2GB SD card
    - AC Adapter
    - Recharging cradle (also allows faster downloads)
    - Six AR cards to use with six, pre-installed Augmented Reality games, developed by Nintendo
    - Pre-installed Operating system / software

    SYSTEM DESIGN

    Dimensions (when closed):
Adopts similar look to the DSLite / DSi. 5.3 inches wide, 2.9 inches long, 0.8 inches tall. Weighs approximately 8 ounches

    Top 3D screen:
3.53-inch widescreen LCD display, enabling auto-3D view with 800x240 pixel resolution (400x240 per eye). Unlike other 3D methods, framerate is not halved for 3D mode, instead half the horizontal resolution is halved. 3D effect can be adjusted via the 3D slider or be switched off into 2D mode.

    Bottom touch screen:
3.02-inch LCD with 320x240 pixel resolution. Smaller size than the DSi touch screen but greater resolution (320x240 to 256×192). 3DS has a removable telescopic stylus to use with the touch screen

    Tactile controls:
Analog Slide Pad (concave design), D-pad (concave design), four face buttons, two shoulder buttons, start / select and home buttons

    Alternative controls:
Touch screen (resistive), motion controls via Accelerometer + Gyroscope, portrait camera + 3D camera (augmented reality), built-in microphone

    Camera input:
On the inside of the 3DS, 2D portrait photos can be taken and on the outside there is a 3D camera (two cameras) to take 3D photos. 3D camera can also accurately detect distance for augmented reality tech. Cameras are also capable of capturing video

    Additional info:
Game cards will have a current 2GB capacity (the largest on the DS was 512MB) but the card tech has an overall production ceiling of 8GB capacity (more than a dual-layered DVD). Battery is still TBA, however Nintendo engineers stated they are aiming for DSi levels, so 8-10 hours

OPERATING SYSTEM (more details to come as launch nears)

    3DS functionality trailer:

    Multi-tasking
Built-in functions that can be used without turning off the gameplay include: HOME Menu, Web Browser, Notification Applet, etc.

    Preinstalled software
Nintendo 3DS Camera software, Nintendo 3DS Sound software, Mii Studio, StreetPass Mii Plaza, Augmented Reality Games, Activity Log, etc.

    SpotPass Mode
While Nintendo 3DS is in sleep mode, it automatically detects wireless access points to receive information, game data (rankings / updates), free software, pictures, etc from the Internet without input from users. SpotPass works even when no games are inserted (it uses save data) and when new data is tagged an indicator in the top right of the system lights up.

    StreetPass Mode
While Nintendo 3DS is in sleep mode, it automatically detects other local 3DS units and exchanges data (ghost data, rankings, battles). It is possible to transmit data for multiple games simultaneously. StreetPass works even when no games are inserted (it uses save data) and when new data is tagged an indicator in the top right of the system lights up.

    Download Service
In addition to the purchase of software, it is possible to view sample software videos and software sales rankings. Unlike the services on DSi and Wii, the online store and promotion store will be combined into one on the 3DS. The interface has been revamped to ensure a fast and smooth experience.

    Download games library
3DS's downloadable games library will include at least four categories:

    * Virtual Console (Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance games)
    * Classic Games with New 3D Look
    * Nintendo DSi Ware (games store of the DSi store makes it way to 3DS)
    * Nintendo 3DS Ware (games store specifically for new 3DS titles)

    Software Data Transfer
Possible to transfer software bought on DSi / DSiXL to the new Nintendo 3DS system. This will also be the case when a 3D redesign is later released, so users can transfer content from their old 3DS to the new one.

this really does look pretty damned good, obviously seeing the 3D in motion will be the biggest thing to sway me, but with the amount of stellar games coming to the platform i may well invest.

It's a game device, not a phone. Also that's not huge, it's the same as DSLite / DSi

The game library didn't really interest until Shin Megami Tensei came up. Now I'm interested.

Still, I'll wait to see what other RPGs get announced.

Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest doesn't interest you? In addition to the RPGs that will inevitably come from Level 5?

Final Fantasy what? If it's a port or a spinoff, I'm not really interested. I find DQ okaaay, good but by no means something I would get a console for.

Resident Evil, Splinter Cell, and Street Fighter in 3D?! I'm sold.

Ok, forget all of those games. SNAKE EATER!!! Holy crap! Snake Eater in 3D is going to be... insane. Like I said, I'll be buying the 3DS.
