App description: SteamBalls for iPad - most polished and unique match-3 game ever.

"If you enjoy games that require you to put on your thinking cap, you will find this one to be right up your alley!" - appadvice.com

"Steamballs is the essence of match-3, polished to the extent of becoming an art with deep and varied gameplay. While the basic mechanics makes for an easy-to-pick-up gaming experience, the added features really make it a hard-to-master puzzler. In the end Steamballs is the perfect choice for any fan of the match-3 genre or even a gamer in search of a casual title to entertain themselves on the go." - touchmyapps.com

"Steamballs, a title that embraces the steampunk model both in a visual and interactive way. Indeed, the ornate steam powered machine that is the games playing field comes to life just as you would expect a working replica to do; brightly coloured balls trundle down the board with new ones appearing at the top to fill their place, and the eight columns of the board house four pressure sensitive levers that react to the weight of the balls placed on top of them." - gamesuncovered.com

"The addition of weight and having to use the scales intelligently really puts this Match-3 game into a category all its own. It's a game for thinkers, since nothing really happens by chance all that often. Smart use of the tools provided was really the only way to win. Just when we thought nothing new could come to this supposedly tired genre, Steamballs comes along and proves us wrong."- gamezebo.com

"f youve been looking for a quality Match-3 and youre up for the challenge, Id recommend checking out Steamballs. It looks great, it sounds great, it plays great and its got Open Feint. Its such a polished, unique, feature filled game its tough to pass this one up." - appversity.com

Looks really nice, but I have to agree with the comments in the upcoming iPad games that the pure top-down visuals makes the game look flat rather than a 3-D effect which is so appealing in the iPhone version. The video also makes the game look flat although the graphics are spectacular. 3D for this game is where its at....

Yes please - Thank you!

By the way, Other than the flatness, the game is awesome.

Thanks for going HD.

A cool way for the 3D look would be portrait - JUST the play area taking up the whole screen.
The Landscape could stay how it is if that was done (in my opinion of course)

I am really enjoying it, as it is STILL one of the very best match 3 games ever made, period. (I am 34 years old, I have seen and played all of it)

Here are my top 5 of all time:

Lumines II (PSP)

Meteos (DS)

Klax (Lynx)

SteamBalls (iPad)

TiQal (PC)

Thanks again guys!

If more than a mere graphic theme tweak but actually introduces some new/different gameplay elements I'm ALL OVER IT!

While not really getting the whole flat/3D debate, the game is beautiful, smooth, and IMHO, even cooler on the big screen (less fumbled moves when able to see everything so much clearer).

I think I particularly love how the scoring works in which a single group clearing of balls could net you anywhere from 1 to many thousand points and how you as the player determine your next ball simply by deciding which column you drop your current ball in.

While I like the concept of negative power-ups, I find the Lava Ball pretty darned annoying (but then again, I guess that is the idea, right?).

How about 2 powerups that randomly scramble ball colors horizontally and vertically (heck, maybe a third that does both). While mainly a negative thing it could come in handy sometimes.

Yes, DreamBalls will be different, with major gameplay changes.
Maybe it will be more casual, with horizontal, vertical and diagonal matching, faster dropping and very funny visuals, like this:

Also, we thinking about "casual version" of SteamBalls, without scales and weights, faster, etc...

I hear you, as cool as the varied weights and only horizontal groupings of 3+ triggering a clear, it might be more than the typical Bejeweled/Columns fan would want to deal with.
