I got my copy of Child of Eden at Fathers Day yesterday. I only had time, with all we were doing, to play one level (well, play it twice - I failed the first time!) but it is pretty great so far. The control with Kinect is really good. It's certainly far more responsive and accurate then any past Kinect game. I also like that they sped up the menus by having the confirmation (circle filling) happen much faster, which perhaps is also because of the better accuracy.
I didn't try it with the controller yet, but I really can't believe that would be more accurate. Then again, I'm not very good at FPS with a controller, so maybe it's just me. In any case playing it with Kinect is very cool. Aiming and then pushing forward to the beat, to shoot, seems so perfect. You raise both hands to use Euphoria. I will try it with controller too, though, at some point, for one because when I play upstairs, we don't have a Kinect up there, nor room for it. I'll probably play it through with Kinect, then play it through with controller. One thing you can do, as I understand it, but which I didn't try yet, is to combine Kinect with up to 4 controllers, using the controllers for vibration. You'd probably need cargo pants (which I don't have) to use all 4, but I have some baggy-ish shorts that I could put two controllers in. I'm going to give that a shot tonight. In the settings you can turn vibration on for up to 4 controllers, and I believe it pulses them individually to the beat, but don't quote me on it yet, as I didn't try it. I seem to recall a while ago that they had a belt, which has to be pretty goofy looking, that would hold 4 controllers, but I doubt that was ever a real product. That would be cool if it were, though, even though goofy. Probably you could jerry-rig something up and get the same effect. |

Have you played Rez? Is it any more involving than that game? Rez got a load of good reviews but in the end it was really just a repetitive shooting game with a musical background.

No, I've never played Rez. I like it so far, but as I said, I'm only one level in. However, I've seen people say that, when played with a controller, this is essentially just an HD version of Rez. I can't vouch for that since I haven't even seen a video of Rez! Maybe it won't be your cup of tea. This isn't a 2D shooter, but it is a similar concept to those sorts of high score games, albeit with a pulsing beat and psychedelic visuals. The key to high scores is targeting a full set of 8 enemies and pushing forward (shooting) on the beat to increase your multiplier and then not letting it drop. Or something like that - I briefly looked at what it said the rules were here, but didn't memorize. There was a way to maintain your multiplier even when not fully targeting 8 enemies, but I forget what it said offhand. After a play through I'll go back to that and try to get a good score.

Ah yeah, sounds pretty similar. Rez multipliers were made by targeting a bunch of enemies too. I might pick it up after reading more about it.

Darn. Pulled a muscle in my upper back yesterday at work. Decided I probably shouldn't then play Child of Eden, at least not with Kinect. And now we are going on vacation (yeah!), so I won't get back to it until next week.
At least I found that the Redboxes near us do now have video games. Unfortunately all they have is stuff I'm not interested in, at least for now. No copies of Dirt 3 anywhere within 50 miles. Boo. |

I'm probably going to buy Hard Corps Uprising while on sale.
If you don't already have Lara Croft, I highly recommend picking that up while on sale. It isn't that long, but it's a lot of fun. Don't bother with the DLC, though - totally not worth it. The one I have is ridiculously short and, unlike the main game, not really much fun. Note that it isn't like normal Lara Croft games, which to me was a win. I understand that's it's also fun coop, but I've never had the opportunity to try it that way, so can't vouch for it. |

I ended up buying Hard Corps and Turtles in Time ReShelled. TMNT RS isnt as bad as I remembered and it's actually much better if you're playing it with a fightstick but it makes the bosses damn near impossible to defeat.

Hmm. TMNT RS Hasn't been pulled yet. I guess it was just some sort of marketing stunt.
