Possible top grossing glitch

Go to the top of the top grossing section and you will see an app called enjoy sleep. It has 50 reviews 5 star but no written reviews. I've never heard of the app and all of the sudden it's the top grossing. How did this happen I doubt anyone actually bought it?

Looks like they did the trick of setting their price really high, buying a bunch of copies, and then changing the price back. As you can see in AppShopper, they raised their price to $299.99 today, then dropped it again.

This has been happening quite a bit recently.

It makes Apple money. Why would they care. Top paid is much more realistic than top grossing.

What's also weird is that 50 people think it's worth 5 Stars.

Probably the 50 accounts they used to buy their own app.

What is the number of promo codes a dev can distribute, Alex?

I really get the feeling that the top grossing list is something for devs to use, and not as much something that users look at. I'm *some* of them look at it, but it just doesn't seem that important to me.

I made Trainyard and Disco Zoo. You might like them!

How can it possibly make sense for codes to contribute to sales numbers, especially the top grossing chart?

The codes were just for the star ratings, not the chart figures, although they probably used the same accounts to make the purchases.
