Rocket Dash! released

Hi,
I developed a new game for iPhone/iPod touch.

App Store http://itunes.apple.com/app/rocket-dash/id382544071?mt=8

Rocket Dash! is a game specialized for iPhone/iPod touch.
The rules and operations are simple, so you can enjoy in a little spare time.

You are a pilot of traditional style's rocket.
A lot of missiles take aim at your rocket. But you haven't the weapon. You may counter it with your 'spacemanship' and a sense.
Now, run away from missiles by exercise the whole body!

Features

- You may exchange the rocket.
- Somehow it's possible to board the HAYABUSA.
- BGM is changed if you exchange the rocket.
- CAUTION! : Beware of meteorites that approach you at high velocities.

Version 1.4 released!

What's new
- Added OpenFeint's functions.
- Leaderboards (via OpenFeint)
- Achievements (via OpenFeint)

How to play

- Tilt to turn left or right.
- If you tilt it greatly the rocket turns fast.

I really like the looks of this. In the description at the app store it says you tilt to turn left or right. That concerns me a bit as I'm used to tilting to move relative to the screen like in "tilt-to-live", instead of tilting relative to the ship... Hmm. Have to think about this one.

Are you saying you're not used to different games having different control schemes? Because that's pretty much every single game ever. Play it, adjust to it.

Tilt to turn looks like it'd make good sense for this game.

I'm on the verge of picking it up just 'cause it looks neat. Side visibility (or the lack thereof) might make it a little difficult though.

I had a long response to this all written out, but then decided it would stir up more crap than I feel like dealing with.

So short answer:

No, I can get used to different controls if they add to the game, or the game is worth the effort.

Out of 100,000s of games, they don't all control differently from each other. Similar styles of games attract similar styles of controlling.

Bad controls can kill a game, no matter how pretty. This looks very pretty to me, but I'm fond of vector graphics.

To the developer, or anyone who has played this, I'm asking: is turning relative to the device or relative to the ship?

Sometimes you play it, fail to adjust to it, stop playing it and regret the money spent on it. If it were free, I wouldn't even have asked, I would have just downloaded it. 99 is a nice, low price, but it tends to add up when you buy as many games as I do.

Tell you what, instead of coming down on me for wanting to know more about the controls, how about you buy it, play it and let us know what you think of it. If you like it, I promise I'll buy it.

Gameplay video

Hi,

Thank you for interesting.

Here's a gameplay video.

And at the next update, you may invert tilt-control.

Thanks,

Thank you!

So basically you have to avoid the head/point of the line? Is a d-pad in consideration?
