Yes, very disapointing They selling us an outdated CPU so we need to buy a newer iPad next year....

Snapdragon s4 processor running at 1.5 ghz (which is based on arm15 architecture) it is going to be sell on April on devices like asus tranformer prime infinity and will have a 1080p ips+ display too...

This device will have 2x CPU horsepower than iPad 3... I have made my choice

Example: sfiii3.zip (around 130kb) and a CHD file (67mb). Mame will launch sfiii3 but i get nothing on screen. Is CPS3 not yet working in this version ?
Yes cps3 is not working... I think there are some issues with this driver and compiler optimizations.... I'll do some findings... But it is not a priority... Maybe I'll wait to the 0.145 upgrade

My problem with androids is that they always sport widescreen displays, which results in a loss of real estate for emulators since they are meant to run 4:3. There's no perfect choice for us. :/

I'm currently have two tablets to develop with, a samsung galaxy tab 10.1 (Tegra 2 at 1ghz) and a iPad 2...

I think mame reloaded runs slightly faster on iPad 2... Maybe because iOS have not the java dalvik overhead...

Anyway It is strange but I get more enjoyable playing mame with my galaxy... That's me... I'm hold better the galaxy tab because it is more large since it is 16:9 and I have implemented vibration feedback on the touch controls as well...

You right 4:3 is better to proper emulation if you use an external controller.... But I prefer 16:9 for the rest of things like browsing, watching movies, etc

And if you use touch controls it has the advantage that the controls are not overlapped....

Also I really like the stereo speekers of the galaxy... Why apple hasn't added something so simple like stereo speakers.... It is really nice with games (cps2 qsound) or movies if you don't use headphones....

I'm not a fan boy here... I have iOS and droid devices and I really like iOS ... But I don't understand why apple don't put/allow that kind of basic things like support for external controllers, sd cards, need of jailbreaking and so on....

They really Piss me of

Are you saying your going to upgrade the mame version that you used to the latest version 0.145?

Hello all,

I only heard about iMAME4all the other day, and it spontaneously sold me on the iPad. I've bought an iCade, and I'm in the process of buying a (now cut-price) new iPad 2 to jailbreak. I have only a couple of questions, please:

1). Is it essential for me to use a jailbroken iPad? I'm ignorant in these matters, but is it not possible for me to jailbreak my old iPod Touch (which is miles out of warranty...), install iMAME4all to it, then somehow transfer that to a virgin iPad?

2). How much storage space will I need to run iMAME, and possibly other emulators? Will a 16GB iPad suffice, or might I struggle? I'll keep my music, TV and films on my Mac; so these usual RAM-hogs won't be a concern.

3). Is the iPad 2 sufficiently powerful to run all of the games that MAME supports to a decent standard? I like my emulation to be as smooth as possible, as often as possible. I'm not expecting perfection: but I would expect iMAME4all to broadly 'work'. Are we there yet?

Anything else that anyone thinks I should know, please do tell. And thanks in advance to all concerned for this highly exciting development in MAMEing.

Thanks,

DH.

Yes you need to jailbreak.

The iPad 2 can run all emulators currently available at full speed: Mame (older ver.), Nes, Snes, Genesis (soon Sega CD), Turbografx, Msx, Gbc, Ngpc, Atari 2600 and Neo Geo perfectly, only the Neo geo emulator is unable to play all games due to compatibility issues (but the dev is working on it), however just recently yoyofr has released a port of Final Burn Alpha which can play all Neo Geo games and CPS1/2/3 and more.

The new Mame that Seleuco has released but is not yet on Cydia (I believe it will be listed as iMame Reloaded) will play way way more games since it's based on the latest ver. on PC. Problem is the iPad 2 will not run all games full speed since it requires more power, but it should be the most complete Arcade emulator yet, it will just need hardware to catch up (probably by 2013).

You can use icade or wiimote classic controller for the best experience

Even for emulation? Because I won't need to put any media on there.
