Action-Roleplaying Game Zans Mountain

Hi, i have just finished my first indie game for the iPhone.

Here's a short description:
The evil dragon Zan has captured the beautiful princess.
Choose the young Knight or the Wizard Apprentice and
follow them on a daring rescue mission, that will take you
deep into the heart of Zans Mountain.

Defeat evil sorcerers, nasty goblins, troll mercenaries, dragons and vampires.
Cast fireballs, lightning spells and even earthquakes to crush your opponents.
Find friends and allies along your way to help you in your heroic quest.

Zans Mountain comes with
- beautiful hand drawn old school graphics
- atmospheric fantasy music and Sound FX
- fast paced real time sword fights and spellcasting
- innovative, hands-on user interface
- dozens of spells, skills, and gadgets to find and explore

There's a support site on the Internet: www.meengacro.de.
It is still under construction, but offers valuable advice and hints for new players.

Check it out.

Ok, so I took the plunge and decided to TOFTT.

So far I just seem to die real quick.

So you start the game and you pick either a fighter or a mage, and then you have to pick between one of 2 skills/traits. They seem to be random choices, so this gives some variety each time.

Once you have selected your traits you are presented with your first fight, which looks like screenshot 1. Below your portrait are some skills like using your sword or defending. You are just dragging it over the enemy card. But it is real time, which I was not expecting. So you are just dragging real fast. I think you are supposed to drag your shield above you to those blue stars at the top, not sure why. I had a necromancer ask to join me once, I don't know what he does though, as you cannot drag him like a skill.

After my first fight each time I am almost out of health. In some of the games I had healing in camp so I could heal between fights, but the mana ran out for that fast.

There is 0 documentation for this game. I think maybe it might be a neat game, but I am not really sure yet. Having a hard time recommending it as of yet.

Also, there is no score or high score or anything. Also, I don't see anything about progress or how far you have gone. So it seems like there is no point in playing, as your progress or each game you play seems to exist in a vacuum.

Defending

Hi, thanks for your comments.
You can block an attack
by dragging the shield on the Blue Star,
that shows up, when the Monster Hits you.
The blue diamonds at the top of
the screen show the room in which
you actually are. First dungeon has 4 rooms.
After you finish the 4 rooms, you can go
into a deeper dungeon or do the first dungeon
again to gain more skills and spells.

Edit: couldn't wait played one round tonight!

First impressions. Make it tap for skills or turn based, dragging allows no time for thought. Have careful spelled as "careull". Include a tutorial. I believe this is a roguelike, not being turnbased makes it difficult to accept how easily you lose your one life!

Favs: Bike Baron, Dungeon Hunters, 100 Rogues, Zenonias, Super Quick Hook, Tilt to Live, Puzzle Quests, Pocket RPG, Mage Guantlet

Where's my $1! Nah, just kidding. Not the end of the world.

I agree with riggysmalls...consider changing this to turn-based.

And I felt it was kind of rogue-like myself, which is good as I love rogue type games. But that means it needs to be turn-based.

Also, it really needs some sort of scoring system and high score list so you have a reason to keep playing and dying over and over.

This could be a fun little strategy RPG in a unique format with some work.

Round or Realtime and PointSystem

Game was roundbased in the first development steps, but we did not liked it.
Maybe this advice helps: Choose the Knight, he
does not need to care for mana. Try to survive
the first fight. Drink the potion. Go to Traits-Menu
(the davinci-like Button. Drag your Strike-Skill-
Symbol on Place Nr. 5. It will appear under the Thug-Card in the next fight.
For next version, i will implement difficulty levels
and a Highscore-System.
Only roundbased Fighting seems to boring for me.
Thanks for your advice though, it is really important for me, since Zans Mountain is my first game.
