This is exactly the sort of stuff I like, but I need to be sold on the variety and depth. Would love to hear from early adopters/testers/devs on that front.

F2P is killing gaming!!!!

BUT

I need to be "sold" on the following list of stuff before I can invest $4. Or the cost of 2 candy bars, or a grande latte.

Sarcasm off.

It looks cool, it's premium, and if it sucks, you tried and gave someone ~$2 for their time and Apple ~$2 to keep on making amazing platforms for us to play on. Sorry for the mini rant, but I just hate the comment "I need to be convinced to buy this game for a couple bucks" when we all spend money on shit all day long that no one convinces us of.

Supporting premium games does not mean buying every premium game under the Sun. Even small app purchases start amounting to a large number if you buy everything without considering merit, especially when the past few months have been amazing for premium games and have resulted in a pretty big expense so far. Merit will always be the primary indicator of whether a game is worth my time and money, and the purchase and "support" for the developer comes as the next step.

Is there any strategy to combat, or is it just the biggest ship/group of ships wins?

Is combat handled automatically, or can you direct your fire?

Are there ads (based on the warning at the end)?

Just because a game has a price tag doesn't mean it's worth playing any more than a game being free means it isn't worth playing. Asking for impressions before spending $4 is hardly unreasonable.

It mentions no iap. I think if they were also ad free they would have mentioned it.

It is because of this mentality that we get only cheap games which last for a day or a few hours rather than full fledged games at a higher price.
