Knights Rush - Pint Sized Adventure!
My first review
I picked up Knights Rush after seeing the sale for 1.19 and thought why not. I had heard good things but didn't think it was the old asking price.
When i first booted it up a easy to use and welcoming menu was presented. Simple yet got the point across. I chose to play the game obviously and started my small adventure through the world of campaign.
I played the game for what seemed like 5 minutes but was actually about 45 minutes. (Always a good sign). Let's get on the more specific aspects shall we?
I am currently using the iPhone 4 and would have preferred the game to take more advantage of the retina display. While somethings look great others seem to look a little jaggy or could have just been a little clearer. Especially the text. However the levels and the backgrounds look great. Gives the game a sense of feel. But none the less this game would look so much better with updated graphics.
Graphics Score = 6/10
The sound in this game is something hard to judge. On one hand it did give it atmosphere. On the other hand it did bug out on me after a phone call. The actual music stopped and the volume didn't change till i moved levels. Otherwise the actual sounds of the weapons etc were fine. Mildly annoying with how repetitiousness it can be at times.
Sound Score = 5/10
Controls in a game like this can make or break it. Thankfully Knights Rush works and works well. Only once or twice did i have any issue and I'm going to put that down to user fault. The only thing i would probably change is where the special attack was placed as i found myself hitting that once or twice when i shouldn't have. Otherwise all round the controls are simple that it's pick up and play and also allow the task at hand to be done well.
Control Score = 9/10
Gameplay + Fun
The most important and defining part of any game. The fun factor. This game has it that's for sure. Time flew past when i was playing it. I felt my enthralled with my miniature knight while he slaughtered anything that stood in his way. His hacking slashing nature would make this game easy to pick up on the train for 2 minutes and finish a level or if so inclined play for an hour to level up. Which is one of the other great features that i believe was just added in the update. Exp. Something like that adds another element to keep you playing. I just want one more skill i say. Sadly that keeps me playing longer then i would have liked. Slaying monsters and leveling up. Nothing more i could ask for.
Gameplay + Fun Score = 10/10
"Knights Rush" is a great game that could easily become a classic time waster. With only minor annoyances that could easily be fixed with a update (retina graphics) this game will easily keep on giving. At this price point it's not be missed!
