A cool idea just popped up in my head.

So I was staring at the bottom of my iPhone and I realized that it would be possible to put a game in the 30-pin connecter port, like a chip per se, that holds a game like the umd disks for a psp. Then it would be likely to get full blown games on an iPhone that are disposable in a realistic fashion, refundable, and have the ability to resell. It is just an idea but think about it, it could work, no iffy iTunes downloads, no crashing, and being refundable. It is an altogether good thought. And updates would be released as a download through the game, no piracy, and of course we would still have the AppStore and the apps on it.

Oh, god...

Problems with this system:

1) Prices would rocket
2) Convenience would be lost
3) You would always have to carry around cartridges
4) Cartridges get lost
5) Take up space in your house
6) How would you charge?!
7) You wouldn't be able to quickly switch between games
8) You could only carry a limited amount of games
9) Ruins portability
10) Takes longer to start each game (it's what the iPhone is famous for)
11) Buying games and apps would be a constant hassle
12) Apple would have to spend money manufacturing these chips
12) i) Creating chips would use resources
12) ii) There are millions of apps!!!! How many chips are you gonna need?!
12) iii) How big would the shops have to be to store all apps?!
12) iv) You would have games running out of stock constantly, always a battle for the game (release night queues, please no)
12) v) A ton of cartridges would be wasted because no one wants them
13) Trying to find the right game would be a pain in a massive store
14) It would be uncomfortable to hold!!!
15) Broken easily!
etc, etc, etc...

Need I go on?
There was a reason that the PSP donned the UMD in the Go.

More power drain.
Opens system to flash carts.
Good way to stress/break your dock connector.
Different iPhone/iPod/iPad models have different shapes.
Current system works pretty well, I see no reason why anyone would want this.

That might have sounded like a good idea 20 years ago, but in today's world it just wouldn't work.
