Micro Transactions VS Pay to Play?

Micro-transactions VS Pay to Play?

Would you rather download a free game that allows you to purchase items within the app to make your character stronger? Or would you rather pay a flat fee to play the game outright?

Flat fee absolutely. EA has a tendency to use those micro transactions often,

the problem is when companies abuse them. I mean, im sure there will be an adjustment period- such as when the app store first launched. There were games being priced anywheres from $10 or more for games like solitaire or mahjong. They quickly realised their games are only worth what people will pay.

If people buy these stupid in game upgrades- (i guess you can tell by my rhetoric which direction i'm biassed) then they will succeed.

If people don't buy them, then the market speaks.

Flat price. I hate micro-transactions, which is why I don't play MMOs. They make you buy something that you should already have. Why? To make money? No one will pay for that sort of thing. I can't believe people still do micro-transactions...

I'd rather pay a flat fee. I want to know the entire cost of a game upfront. I don't want to think it is $5 only to find out as I play it that it is really $15 or $20.

Yeah, you pay for what you think is a whole game, then have to (or really want to) pay extra constantly to unlock new features. The people at the 3.0 conference acted like the 99 cents for a weapon or pack of shirts was no big deal, but you could definitely buy a great 99 cent app like GeoDefense or Pocket God, that I'm sure you would get much more fun out of than two extra shirts for your dog, or a rocket launcher you could use in a game.
