Insta-TOFTT at £1.79 ... although it sounds like 63 million people got there before me. Luckily I've never played this in another format so it will be all new and shiny. The video and screens sold it to me quite easily but my impressions will follow (eventually) for anyone who may be interested...

Ok, I've played through the first 30 levels, enough to form some impressions.
All good, I have to say! The concept is very simple - use a fixed sequence of objects to interact with the existing objects and spherical orange creature(s) within a level in order to protect (cover) the spherical orange creatures from a cloud of acid rain that passes once the last object has been placed/used. Each screen is a puzzle and they get more complex and challenging as you progress. You can work the gameplay out easily enough from the video, so I won't go into detail about it, but the first 30 puzzles I've played have been hugely entertaining. Getting it wrong is always funny as the poor orange critters get stung by the acid rain and perish rather grimly. Progress is of the "complete a level to unlock a few more" type, but I've been completing each one and not missing any out (so far). Graphics are very nice - pretty backdrops, cute cartoony characters and objects. The physics of the falling objects, see-saws, swinging chains and exploding bombs all work the way you would expect, so using or dropping an object in a certain way feels right rather than illogical. I can't comment on the sound as I was playing it on the sofa while my wife watched TV and I didn't want to disturb her ;-) Overall, great fun. A really polished product that sounds like it has been fairly well play-tested online before this release. Highly recommended, particularly for fans of stuff like 'cut the rope' (as a fairly obvious comparison). I'd say the price (£1.79 from UK app store) is very good for an iPad puzzle game of this quality. |

Only on level 15 so far, but it's good fun
After seeing so many levels (with the promise of more to come on the level selection screen), I started to worry when I couldn't figure out level 5! All sorted now though, and getting in to the swing of it. Definitely recommended.

The initial impressions sound great! I'll be picking this up later tonight when I get the chance. I can't wait to try it out.

I just got through a few levels and I loved every minute of it. Look forward to playing all the way through.
And is that Kribl in the coming soon box? |
