Dear EA,
Stop releasing new games and start fixing your older, broken ones.

Can somebody explain why a headshot results in point deduction and a heartshot is preferred?

Is this some hunting etiquette I am supposed to know about?

Just wanted some justification before I delete this ridiculous app.

Maybe because many hunters like to mount the heads of their kills? I honestly don't know, I'm not a hunter, but just a thought...or it could just be a flawed point system.

Thanks; mounting the heads...it could be a possible reason.

I was surprised that I achieved a grade "D" for three consecutive headshots, each resulting in a penalty of 1000 points.

I then repeated the level, went for the heart, and achieved a mediocre "B".

Of any game I have played where the player/protagonist carries a gun or a weapon of some sort, a "headshot" deals the most damage and is the most efficient way to complete the game; I cannot see why EA decided to change the norm.

Anyway, the application is already off my device.

Wow just played a few games of this. First I went for the head shots and thought wtf -500pts but them went for body/heart shots and thats where the points are, you even get adrenaline mode and slow mo bullet cam when you hit the right internal organs. My only complaint is that the aiming is a bit funny to use but it might get better with a bit of practice I'm not sure yet.
I suppose either way it's EA so it won't get fixed :-) and you just have to live with it. Well all in all it's looking like a cool game and especially cool for free.

I take it none of you guys have ever gone hunting?

If you're hunting (in real life) you never shoot an animal in the head, unless otherwise unavoidable.

A perfect kill shot is just behind the front legs, in the Heart or Lungs.

That way you can have the animal serviced by a taxidermist if you so please.

Nope I'm in the uk and we don't have the joy of running around with guns shooting animals for fun :-( Although there isn't much around where I live to shoot anyway, unless shooting chav's is a sport? I could see the appeal in that :-)

Even when hunting man in the mountains of Afghanistan you don't go for head shots, you go for the chest.

Back stateside when hunting whitetail deer you aim the sights just behind the front legs about 1/4 down from the back. Some hunt with .223 AR-15 style rifles but I've found it's better to use either .308 or 30-06 in a bolt rifle.

I've found that the Steyr Scout Rifle in .308 works just fine for hunting everything from deer to the occasional "I-bet-you-won't-try-to-steal-from-me-again" human. Out to 300 yards I can dot the eyes and cross the T's.
M1 Garands and M14s also work for those types of critters as well.

If your deer is driving a vehicle, use the Ma Deuce or .50 Cal BMG.

If your deer is shooting back from a small cave up on a hillside in Bosnia, use a 120mm heat round.

If your deer gets drunk and decides to start driving around in a Russian anti-aircraft armored vehicle, quickly climb up the vehicle from the rear flank and then use your 9mm Beretta to pop him in the head.

Those wacky Balkan War deer. Always causing trouble.
