Insane developers attempt to create game in 24 hours

-Did not reach 24 hour goal. We are still working, though, and although we didn't finish the game, can't be anything but pleased by the progress we made. At the beginning of the weekend we had nothing. Now we have a good chunk of a game.

(mockup)

ORIGINAL POST:

It was based on an impulse. What if we could make a game in 12 hours? Wouldn't that be cool?

Josiah was all for it. Lopi thought the idea was cool but he wanted to sleep tonight. So we extended it to 24 hours.

Then we brainstormed as fast as we could. Each of us came up with a word; an adjective, a noun, and a verb. We tried to put them together. Elephant jet bouncy almost became an online shooting game. But it was riffing off an idea about making music with water ripples that we somehow developed into a game about a dirigible with a magnet hanging from it.

We have started. Lopi and I are madly pounding out code while Josiah pixels like a madman. Our deadline is 10pm tomorrow, our timezone, which I think is GMT. Will we make it? Who knows. Follow this topic to watch us succeed, or fail.

Nope. Succeed is the only option.

Josiah and I made Castle Conflict in a week (The first release, not the current version), and it was actually done in about 4 days - the last three days were spent polishing the user interface.

This game is simpler.

We think we can do it, if not in a day then fast - but a day isn't actually that unrealistic if we remain passionate
