Free Interactive Movie game - The Odyssey: Trail of Tears

Hi, I'm the developer for a 2nd person interactive movie game, The Odyssey: Trail of Tears. Most of these 'choose your own adventure' type games have the player either as a character that appears on screen, or the point of view of the camera. In The Odyssey, you are a professor from the future, communicating backward in time to guide the person who shows up on video.

I put a free public beta of the game together that just got published on the app store last night. More functionality and content are on the way, but I'd be interested to hear what any of you think of this concept.

There's also a YouTube version of the game available at our website -- thanks for taking a look.

Video is MB 'expensive' - and more videos in the game are going to mean more MBs... that's something we can try to optimize in updates.

So with the release of this, does anyone think "project mayhem" or whatever it's called, is going to show up soon?

This is a pretty neat idea. How long did this whole project take you?

Thanks for saying so! I've been working on story stuff on and off for a long while now. I don't even want to get into that part of it...

I started shooting video in early December and first submitted the app to iTunes almost a month ago - so that much took about 3 months. I do have more video that's not finished, and I need to do some more traveling to finish TO: TOT. I have story drafts for sequels as well...

Funny story: the animation for the gravity detector on the iPod touch took the longest - almost a month. And I couldn't shoot anything else until that was done...

1. That little video when you send a pulse - gets annoying after a while
2. Volume WAY too low.
3. Video controls - pause, rewind, etc.
4. If that's you, you're cute lol

2. If you touch into the video it should bring up a volume control. Hopefully it doesn't carry over for your music...
1. I'll think about a way to improve that, thanks for point that out.
4. Arn needs to add a blushy emoticon...
3. They're in the general settings. You can pick to have full movie control there. That icon on the home screen that has the gears on it...
