While on a routine mission to test a number of prototype fighters destined to replace the Earth Colonial Fleet's aging Starhawk, the ECS Red Nova, your carrier, comes across an unknown alien fleet preparing to stage a sneak attack on the human colonies!

In order to give the Red Nova a chance to escape and warn the rest of the fleet you have volunteered to attack the aliens head-on. With a choice of any of the fighters on deck, you have to use your wits, your guns, and your ample supply of homing missiles to survive for as long as you can!

Glad you like the look of it!

My idea was to try something a bit innovative with the controls for a game like this because clumsy virtual buttons and fixed dpads are almost always criticized as being a downside to action games on iOS.

Not sure what to make of this one. Technically it is very good, with smooth frame rate and nice physics. I just can't seem to get a handle on the gameplay. I suspect there is something I'm missing, but if so I'm at a loss as to what it is after about 20 mins of play, and frustration is beginning to set in.

Engaging the enemies head on does not appear to be an option: you lose life way too quickly. Flying away from them and trying to get the odd sneaky shot in works, for a while, but a: their numbers increase rapidly and b: boredom tends to set in.

Destroyed enemies appear to drop power-up, but damn if I can figure out how to pick them up consistently, as going back for them immediately gets you shot down by the chasing swarm.

I really don't know. I actually like the fact that this isn't a usual dual stick shooter, and the controls appear to work well, I just can't seem to be able to find an enjoyable (or successful) playing strategy.
