app approval process a sham !?! some game applications transmitting user data !?!

Dont know what to make of this - came across on the on-line edition of the WSJ.

Something about smartphone apps harvesting user data. And apparently the huge ‘approval’ process that apple makes us all suffer through seems to come off sounding exactly as we suspected it was - pointless.

Linking to the article here because it lists apps such as paper-toss (iOS game) and TextPlus4 (which we were suggested to download for extra credits in eliminate a couple of months back - i just deleted it - textplus 4 - keeping eliminate for rainy day). . .

Anyway - so heres the link lemme know if you think it was serious or no: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000...867039730.html

Yeah this is really unfortunate...and it's been known for quite a while so the fact that this is still an issue makes it even more unfortunate.

honestly this is no different than what supermarkets, google, twitter, facebook, etc. do

it's the price of having an electronic device

the main difference is that I can turn off scripts, opt out of tracking (using firefox plugins etc.)...no such deal for iphone

your personal info is NOT personal anymore, and it never will be, unless you go back in time and stop yourself from picking up any electric device and drop off the grid from even the US gov't (which is the largest buyer of personal tracking info, by the by)

sucks but it's true
