I want to buy it but at the price I will wait a bit... As much as I love these type of games (and actually come to think of it I have owned and played the original) $7.99 is a little too steep a price for my taste. Had this launched at $4.99 I would grab it right away... Same goes for the other game I want but probably will wait on getting due to the same reasons; Metal Brigade Tactics. Hence why I bought Weird Worlds and Perfect Cell yesterday over this game and Metal Brigade Tactics... They are otherwise instant buys but I can't justify the price.

Yeah. The reason I plunked down the $8 quickly on Ascendancy, and passed over Metal Brigade Tactics is that there is a dearth of this type of sandbox 4X gameplay in the app store, and more than a few good tactical TBS titles (which I own, and haven't finished).

Also, Ascendancy has a Youtube vid up for the iPad version at launch, and the MBT developers haven't even bothered to put up a vid of the original PC title.

I hope it's a lesson to Busking; two games come out $7.99 that appeal to me. One has a YT vid of gameplay, the other does not.
Decision made.

I don't regret it. It's a classic, and these types are REALLY well-suited to pick up / put down play.

Also, I read a few reviews of the PC ver. of MBT that say the gameplay is repetitious.

Does anyone feel like explaining the gameplay? The graphics are amazing but I'm confused as to what the gameplay would be like?

At that price I'll wait?

I paid $40 for this great game when it was new on my pentium-60 pc. The current price point is an absolute steal. It amazes me to hear people complaining about full, deep, polished AAA titles selling for a fraction of the price they command on other platforms. Yes, .99 is nice for "Engrish tower defense rip off heroes commander" developed by one guy with art by my cousin Yang. But big, quality, games will never, ever come to iDevices if the market will not pay more than a buck for them.

I for one will gladly pay for quality games like this, and Weird Adventures in Infinite Space on my iPad.
