Wizard Hex is a nice board game.
Rainer Knitzias Samurai game is good.
But the first choice is always Carcassonne.

And anothet fabourite of mine is Blokus by Gameloft.

Hi, you seemed to be lost on the Internets.
This is TouchArcade, where 2$ for a game is too much, 5$ is an outrage, and 10$ or more is putting sugar in their car tanks whilst killing puppies.

There are lots of good ones, like Reiner Knizia's Samurai if you want multiplayer, or if you don't mind missing out on that, Reiner Knizia's Ra and Medici are both great. Or there's Neuroshima Hex or Catan for other well-loved board games. Wizard Hex seems pretty good and it's on sale. I think Zooloretto is on sale for 99 cents still as well. Oh, and Reiner Knizia's Kingdoms may still be on sale. I also really love Keltis.

I definitely recommend Samurai first though. I actually prefer it to Carcassonne.

Current obsessions: Bug Princess 2: Black Label, Neuroshima Hex, Pinball Arcade, Final Fantasy Tactics, MacGuffin's Curse, 1112, Dangerous, 100 Trials, Ascension, The Quest
Anticipating: Spirit Hunter Mineko, Rogue Touch EX, Fargoal 2, Cursed Realms

+1 Neuroshima Hex. Got me into iOS board games fast fun and tons of strategy.

You said Carcassonne, so ABSOLUTELY Neuroshima Hex!, because it's implementation is superb. I have Ra, and it confuses the $(*# out of me, and I have never actually played a Reiner Knizia game previously.

I have Catan, but I haven't put any real time into it on iOS. I just got Shredder chess (chess is a board game!) and it has blown me away.

Finally, Orions is a cardgame, but if you can deal with the bugs, it's absolutely enchanting. Looking forward to Orions 2 and Kyle Poole's upcoming Shadow Era.

I've placed geocached DRM-free USB copies of my newest game in various locations throughout Europe and Southeastern US. Email me if you find 'em for the free "explorer" cape.

What is it about Carcassonne that's awesome for you guys? I've always been tempted to buy it, but $10 seems a bit steep. Does it go beyond just placing pieces on the board and placing characters on them?

Every board game is placing pieces on a board. Likewise, all writing is scribbling out one of 26 symbols that combined is supposed to represent art.
