Finally got a chance to play the game. It is pretty good and I can see that a lot of work and love went into it. Last time I played something with a similar mechanic that was as much fun was Knights Onrush. Yanking the right (wrong) people out of the line becomes almost hypnotic, and then little girl tries to get in and I start flicking like crazy trying to catch her.
You guys did a great job.

My biggest suggestion would be Retina Display support. It looks nice on ipod touch 4g but on closer inspection you could tell that the game graphics are not optimised for retina display. The game would look much much better with retina support.

Still, I can highly recommend it without any reservations.

I think my favorite level has to be the Fruit bowl. i love the music for that one, and it reminds me of a tacky 70's Vages club.

I hope the 5th World guys are not being affected by the bad floods in Brisbane? What i have seen on the news looks terrible. Stay safe guys and hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks for the great review! We really hoped it would be the sort of game that people would get into some sort of hypnotic trance playing and then, "hey, where did the last day go?"

As for retina display, it's certainly a consideration. I think for the immediate future though, the focus has to be on OpenFeint and GameCentre.

It's definitely something we're considering but I think to go iPad we'd also have to look at some cool new features to take the most advantage of the platform.

The great thing about the concept of Bouncer Boot Out is how open it is to future updates. There's a multiplayer battle mode idea we have which would be insane amounts of fun. But as I said above, the focus right now is on leaderboards.

I'd like to add that I'm really in love with the character art, it's so awesome It stands out enough so that you can tell the redneck or hobo trying to get from the spoiled rich girl:P

I also like the celebrity look-alikes. Seriously, tremendous job with the art, give a big pat (and a beer?) to your artist(s)!

Default Game Impressions

Some love for Bouncer Boot Out from the pre-release forum (in case you need another reason to buy the best game ever!...about bouncers:

The gameplay is immediately simple to grasp but not always easy to do once things start going fast.

You are a bouncer and are tasked with ensuring undesirables don't make it into the club. Life as a bouncer is never easy as the club owners will only allow you three strikes before you yourself get booted. Your bouncer can get a strike if he lets an undesirable into the club, accidentally boots one of the club's regulars, or have the GAME ENDED INSTANTLY if you let a little kid into the club!

When you see an undesirable in line simply flick them up to have them booted out for a single point. The game's big points come by way of grouping a bunch of undesirables into a single clump before booting them (the number of idiots in the group squared...so 2 twits is 4, but 4 idiots would net you 16!). When you flick any patron right or left you'll make them swap spaces in line. Ideally you then can swap spaces so as to swap spots with the regular patrons to make a solid line of scumsters. If you try to swap spots between two twits the game will instead group them together for an easy single boot (so be careful to have all of your party crashers next each other before you group them as once the group is formed you can't add to it).

The game has two modes of play, Timed and Survival. In Timed you have 90 seconds or three strikes (whichever comes first) to get as many desirables into the club while booting out all of the riffraff. As the game goes on the line starts moving quicker and quicker through the entrance. This is sort of like the game's career mode and has working on a big cumulative score between sessions. Once you earn enough you'll open new clubs with a different mix of patrons and not-gonna-happens (and is likely to be a little faster and more challenging than the last). You can earn this cumulative score in any of the clubs you have access to so, if you really wanted, you could just stick to the first club the entire time if that is what you prefer.

The Survival mode is initially locked and only allows you to play clubs you have unlocked so far in Timed play. Survival is more the standard untimed 3 strikes game you try to keep going as long as possible to achieve a highscore (each run is counted separately and the game even tracks your best local score in each club).

One aspect of the game that will take a little trial and error is correctly remembering who is considered hip and not for each club (at the start of the level the game will point out each of the undesirables the first time they show up in line but then you're on your own). While many of the undesirables might seem pretty obvious like the smelly hobo or the undershirt wearing hillbilly, you also have to keep out the seemingly well dressed grandma. I also got penalized a few times for trying to keep out a clearly tweaked out coke wh*re only then to realize, NO, that's the game's Lindsay Lohan equivalent and she is allowed in the club.

Good simple pickup and play fun with great animation and style
5/5

We really are lucky to have such an amazing artist working at 5th World. If you want to check out more of his art, check out his website!

...which is currently undergoing some work. I blame the floods submerging most of the state we live in at the moment. Anyhow, check out some of his work here!

...and you can see more here, while slaying astro-zombies with powerful rock n roll music in The Romeros!

Some very cool news to report from the flood ravaged 5th World: Bouncer Boot Out has been featured on the App Store as a "Staff Favourite!" If ever you needed a strong endorsement to try it out besides the glowing reviews, that's it!

Also, if you're so inclined, our hometown was hit by a pretty nasty natural disaster. If you have a spare dollar or two, why not consider donating to the Queensland Flood Appeal. Guaranteed to give you warm fuzzies!

Congrats on the Staff Favourite feature! And my hopes and prayers go out to those hit by the flooding.
