App description: Best ATC-style game yet ~ FlightGlobal.com

APP (Approach) Control is air traffic control as realistic as it gets, from the comfort of your iPhone or iPad. Are you as good as you think you are? Challenge yourself. Uses REAL airport layouts and detailed features for as realistic gameplay as possible.

YOUR MISSION:
You are an air traffic controller in the Approach radar room of a busy airport. Command planes to adjust their headings, altitudes and speeds and guide them to their final approach fix or exit point at the requested altitude. But be careful! You must always maintain Air Traffic rules: a 3-mile lateral or a 1000 feet vertical separation, just like in real air traffic control services. The more planes you safely land, the faster they go- how long can you keep it up?

WHY APPCONTROL?
A realistic ATC app to run on your phone - test your Approach skills anytime, anywhere. No ads, and a free Worldwide Leaderboard compare your scores. Can you beat the best of them?

Best of all, REALISTIC FEATURES:
- Control the headings, altitudes and speeds of planes
- Real-life rules of always maintaining a minimum of a 3-mile lateral or a 1000-feet vertical separation of aircraft
- Uses the REAL layouts of international airports
- Short term conflict alerts
- Speed vectors
- History trail
- Label schemes

CAUTION TO NON-ATC PLAYERS: this is an as-close-to-reality as it gets air traffic control game. You may have difficulty if you have no experience with realistic air traffic control. Think of it as training- good luck! This Air Traffic Control simulation app is meant for real air traffic controllers who can't get enough, aviation enthusiasts, students, pilots and anyone with an interest in testing their skills in a realistic ATC environment.

APPControl (ATC) offers unlimited flights and 26 different airports. Pick your favourite. Are you as good as you think you are?

You can download more airports from our constantly growing database fed by users using the Airport Editor. Contact us on www.appcontrolgame.com to have your favorite airport included in the database, or use the airport editor for iPad to create and share your own airports.

I'm not sure that the developer knows about this forum, so I'll post this on his behalf.

If any of you are aviation nuts, particularly ATC aficionados, I highly recommend this game. It is, bar none, the most realistic ATC sim to date.

I've spoken with the developer and some good updates are planned, along with possible control tower and TRACON-type games.

Very good game IMHO. In fact the only 'real' ATC-game on an iDevice I Know so far. Some ideas for an update though:

- a pause button
- other way of choosing the heading (maybe a circle, where you can tap the desired heading?)
- other planes (only saw B737 so far)
- maybe emergency-landings (higher priority) etc.
- maybe some sort of sound/chatter etc. ?

But even now a Lot of fun which keeps me glued to my phone

I've been in contact with the developer; these are all items which may be updated in the near future.

I'm glad someone finally made a realistic ATC game. From what I understand, this is his first game and he wanted to release it as is before investing more time to update it. I'd say he has a fine game here and there seems to be a decent amount of interest too!

Update!

The game has been updated today to include some of the features suggested here and elsewhere. All in all, it makes a great game even better, so kudos to the developer!

Anyone that's in touch with the dev, can you ask about possibly adding a weapons control mode? (in an airspace try to run a direct or stern intercept on incoming aircraft, or an air refueling mode where you get an A/C to a tanker or an emergency refueling where you have to maneuver the A/C and tanker both to get the A/C fuel as fast as possible)
