I can try running through him, but then I still have to beat all of the pumpkins with no support troops, I don't see how I can do that either. I have been using meteor wand (plus heal and poison). New pumpkins show up faster than I can thin them with meteors. I will keep trying.

I tried another half dozen times, but I can't even get the duck below half health before I get stomped. Wand doesn't recharge fast enough to take out the pumpkins and they keep piling up and eventually kill all of my mice. It seems like others don't have this problem, I don't know what I could be doing wrong. I have plenty of mice, they just don't last. I have had essentially zero trouble on any previous levels.

OK, I used mana rings instead of food rings, and lightning wand instead of meteor wand, and I was (barely) able to beat it. Maybe I just had the wrong equipment, meteors were too expensive for what I was getting.

OK, I tested this, +X food ring is worth +(60+10X). Level 6 ring increases my capacity by +120, level 9 ring by +150. I assume level 12 would be +180.

Note, I think I have level 4 or 5 ring skill, so adjust these numbers downward accordingly.

Yeah, meteor wand blows. The white one that looks like angel wings and costs a ton of mana to use is even better than lightning in certain situations. Costs much more than lightning, but its sometimes worth it. Food wand is indeed pretty good once the level is high enough.

By the way, if anyone is just starting Darkdog, do NOT play on Hard or Nightmare unless you have done IAP or have a nice chunk of your crystal left from the Paladog campaign. I'm doing hard, I have 3 ring slots, and I used 180ish upgrade points from crystal trade ins early on, and its still taking forever.

Yes, I figured out that the meteor wand was probably my problem. I think it's not a true AOE attack---it can do a lot of damage, but there are only a certain number of meteors, so against a really big stack it's not very effective. (The fist is the same way, it affects possibly more than one enemy, but a limited number.) The lightning attack affects a smaller area than the meteors (and you have less control over where it hits) but it seems to (I think) damage every enemy in the target zone.

Anyway, after I finally beat the duck, the next dozen levels are very easy indeed. I'm just piling up gold and using experience rings rather than food/mana, I don't need the boost. I guess it will get hard again, though. The soccer players look like a pain if there are too many of them.

How does crystal work? I have never used any. Gold is separate for each campaign, but crystal is shared between all of your save files?

This was with +4 ring mastery. So I think a base food ring is worth +20 capacity, and each additional bonus is another +10.

I'm not sure if the same thing is true for the rings that increase food and mana rate. Is each +1 on these only worth 1/4 of what a level-up is worth? It's hard to measure the rates exactly. The only thing I've confirmed for sure is that rings are cumulative; wearing two rings that increase your food rate is better than just one.

I finished Paladog Campaign on Normal (final boss was trivial, the only thing I ever had much trouble with was the Duck on 3-24). Decided to try Survival but I'm not sure I get how it works. Is there any way to use equipment that you pick up? It seems like there's no way to re-equip your hero unless you die and start the survival all the way over from the beginning. So basically you are grinding to get better equipment so you can get farther so you can get better equipment? Or you can just shortcut the whole thing by spending a few bucks to buy lots of gems to buy upgrade stones to level up all of your equipment from the beginning?

Also started the Darkdog Campaign on Normal, it does seem like a nice variation.

Nothing above level 5 seems to drop in surivival ever. You have to upgrade your own gear with the drops you get from the bosses and earned from achievements. Your not grinding to get gear, your grinding to be able to upgrade the gear (unless you spend what your earned through achievements.) You play a full game, see what items you have, and equip them for the next game you'll play. You cant change equips mid-game to my knowledge.
