I recently jailbroke my iPod Touch 2g and was using ibrickr to look through my files. I somehow deleted a file and now my iPod keeps turning on and off but never leaving the apple start up screen.
Any ideas? Maybe a way to return it to default settings without being able to connect it or turn it on? |

I had this problem and it SCARED THE HELL OUT OF ME. What you do, is: 1. Make sure you have the 2.2.1 firmware 2. Put your idevice into DFU mode (Hold down home+sleep button for ten seconds, then release the home button and continue holding sleep until you hear a sound) 3. If you go to restore your idevice, like I did, and it gives you an error message, do not panic. this is where I figured out the puzzle basically. 4. Hold shift and click the restore button in iTunes and a browser window will open up. 5. DO NOT USE THE CUSTOM FIRMWARE PROVIDED BY JAILBREAKING SOFTWARE, REDOWNLOAD THE NORMAL 2.2.1 FIRMWARE (if needed) 6. Click the 2.2.1 firmware and your devise should restore back to default settings Dont be alarmed for using the normal 2.2.1 firmware, its totally normal and wont do nothing to your idevice. You may now re-jailbreak and avoid whatever you did to your idevice previously

Or, you can use The software here to make a NOR only firmware and restore to it.
