Dungeon Legend

Dungeon Legend

Well, it's been some time since our last update so…..no time better than now. Some of you may remember the thread in the "Upcoming iPad" section here on TouchArcade.

Dungeon Legend is not dead, it's very much alive. Development took a nose dive into the land of "Slow to Dead" there for a while, but it's back and stronger than ever. We've hired a never programmer and HE IS GOOD!

We actually had to ditch all of the past programming and start from scratch. I think it was the best thing that could have happened for Dungeon Legend. Another change, we have switched development to Mac/PC. This allows for less restriction in development and will bring DL to a wider audience. This dungeon crawler is definitely suited for a larger screen.

Our goal is to complete development in 4 to 6 months. This is not etched in stone, but with our new programmer we are able to set goals and meet them, so this time frame for completion is highly possible and very probable.

Glad to see it return and on a wider platform (I will probably never have an ipad but I do have a macbook).

Do you have any other details locked in as yet? Such as:

Classes or at least a rough number of them?

Skill selection (Elder Scrolls style freeform or class restricted?)

Straight forward campaign with side quests and an end or a Torchlight style infinite Dungeon?

I am a sucker for loot based RPG's and frankly I would like more turn based D&D style games so I will keep an eye out for this.

Hey there Steve,

As a matter of fact we don't have "Classes" at this point. The player can choose on which skills to concentrate on/train. If you want to be a spell caster it might be wise to raise "Intelligence" and spell levels. If you dont like magic then nobody will force you to waste your hard earned XP on raising those stats/skills. So in a sense DL doesn't have "Classes".

As for story/campaign.... Every quest has it's own story. Which means, there is currently no path/story to follow as each dungeon/quest is ends after completion. That said, there is of course the possiblity to stretch a quest over 1 or 2 different dungeons/locations. This allows us to come up with new stories for each location/dungeon. We believe that keeps the game more interesting in the long run and allows us also to update the game with more quests/dungeons/locations etc.

Hope that answers your questions and thanks for your interest!!

Very promising game. Reminds me a bit of Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance. That is one tough rat by the way.

Electronic music and soundtracks...

Thanks for your kind words. I personally loved Baldurs Gate back in the days and still think it beats many RPG's nowadays even if many other RPG's today can visually impress you. As for the Rat... we are tweaking battle mechanics as we go - it won't be that tough later on

I just wanted to take a moment to clarify something. We have stated that we switched development to Mac/PC. That does however NOT mean that there won't be an iPad version.

That just means that the iPad version will be worked on once the Mac/PC version is completed. With that said, we do have thought about it for a while but came to the conclusion that Dungeon Legend will not appear on iPhone.
