Ghostbusters is coming

Sony has announced an iPhone version of Ghostbusters, which will be out in June.

PS: the news was written on March 30, so it hopefully isn't an april fools' joke.

Quote:
Sony says the Ghostbusters iPhone game will see you playing as the traditional team from the Ghostbusters movies, tackling New York borough by borough, trapping pesky poltergeists and stopping innocent citizens from being slimed. Think Halloween Harry, only with Ghostbusters’ Peter Venkman deadpanning it all the way through.

There’s no word on how you’ll control the Ghostbusters iPhone game yet, but we’d love to see Sony’s developers grabbing Apple’s new SDK with both hands, creating a Ghostbusters iPhone game that uses the iPhone’s accelerometer, Bluetooth multiplayer and maybe even location sensing to play multiplayer games against gamers acting as ghouls in your area.

We can already imagine tilting the iPhone to control a proton pack beam, just as you’ll be able to do with the Wiimote when Ghostbusters lands on the Nintendo Wii.

I'll probably get it for my 360 after looking at the trailers (hey, it was $300, I have to play it a little). Given the sheer size of Sony, someone in there should come up with a decent control scheme. Then again, they did screw up Spider-Man 3

Nabbing ghosts to the GB theme song, now that's awesome. And Bill Murray FTW!

I hope they make good use of the touch and accelerometer for controls (ie tilt to aim your stream or touch to slide the trap across the floor).

I don't want to be a pessimist (or however it's spelled) but I don't think this is going to turn out well. The whole idea of a Ghost Busters game sounds stupid and I think Sony will make it even worse.
