App description: Gamebook Adventures returns for its fifth title! Please note that you do not need to have read any of the previous gamebooks in order to read and play this. The critically acclaimed series of newly imagined interactive fantasy gamebooks puts you, the reader, in control of the story! Along with a realistic dice-based battle system to fight creatures, an epic tale and beautiful artwork, Catacombs of the Undercity will give you many hours of gamebook adventuring!

"Captured by one of Orlandes Citys most infamous brotherhoods, the Red Hand Guild, you are thrown to the mercy of the subterranean world deep beneath the streets of the great capital. Wading through the sewers and other dark menacing places, your goal is to reach Undercity, the City beneath the City! Only there can you find the help you need to escape this underground horror and bring down the dark brotherhood from within."

"My favourite examples so far though are the iPad and iPhone-compatible Gamebook Adventures, a series of lovingly crafted and extremely well-written interactive fantasy novels. It's surprisingly engrossing stuff, the economically written narrative packing in masses of detail, while rattling out a pacey, involving story." - The Guardian

"Catacombs of the Undercity is the best entry into the Orlandes series Ive played yet. Its exciting, atmospheric and even amusing at times, plus there are plenty more beasties to battle too." - iPhoneFreak (4/5)

Gamebook Adventures 5: Catacombs of the Undercity is the fifth in a series of newly written adventure gamebooks for the iPhone, iPod Touch and now beautifully realised for the iPad! We are completely original and not simply a re-print of old gamebooks.

Includes all the interactive reading and gameplay features found in An Assassin in Orlandes, The Siege of the Necromancer, Slaves of Rema and Revenant Rising.
Read the story and dictate the direction of the story! Options based on who you have met, where you have visited and what you have found.
Written by Andrew Wright, Gamebook Adventures 5 takes you on an swashbuckling quest from the sewers of Orlandes City to the subterranean metropolis of Undercity.
Pirkka Harvala, the popular illustrator from An Assassin in Orlandes, is back! His beautiful illustrations bring to life the denizens of this strange underworld.
Battle an array of creatures from acid ghouls to spirit demons and find ways to get your revenge against the Red Hand Guild.
Hire mercenaries to aid you in your quest!
Unique battle system using realistic 3D dice which can be rolled by shaking your iDevice.
Three difficulty levels: Classic, Bookworm and Novice.
Lots of achievements to collect and artwork to find throughout the book. These are placed on your achievement wall.
Illustrations can be viewed full screen by simply tapping on them in the book and we have higher resolution artwork for iPhone 4 and iPad users.
New widgets at the bottom of each page access direct to your inventory, settings and main menu making easier than ever to find your way around the gamebook.
An update to the constantly changing world map and gazetteer, Orlandes Uncovered. This now includes Rema and Drymar.
Dramatic soundtrack composed by our Freeplay Independent Games Awards Finalist, Adrian Watkins.

If you are familiar with the Choose You Own Adventure, Fighting Fantasy, Sorcery, Lone Wolf or Grail Quest series then Gamebook Adventures will really appeal to you. Our aim is to give those nostalgic readers of old something new and fresh, and bring a new exciting experience to those unfamiliar with gamebooks. If you enjoy fantasy RPGs or adventure games then this is for you!

started and noticed some problems with text style

http://disk.tom.ru/w247c6j

look at IMG_0203.png, it's plain text but you can't see word "other."

maybe it's not the only glitch

update 1: indeen, plain text is unusable, cuz you can't see a lot of text on different pages
update 2: problems aren't only with plain text, but with fancy too - http://disk.tom.ru/fmme6vs

oh come on, all text style are glitching

for example:

fancy: at the end on one page you read: "You yell at them to stop but hear only laughter, until this too"
on another page: "disappears as the slab blocks out all light and sound"

Lets connect them: "You yell at them to stop but hear only laughter, until this too disappears as the slab blocks out all light and sound"

ancient:
"You yell at them to stop but hear only laughter, until this too disappears as the slab"
on another page: "disappears as the slab blocks out all light and sound"

connect: "You yell at them to stop but hear only laughter, until this too disappears as the slab disappears as the slab blocks out all light and sound" what?

plain:

"You yell at them to stop but hear only"
on another page: "disappears as the slab blocks out all light and sound"

connect: "You yell at them to stop but hear only disappears as the slab blocks out all light and sound"

update 3: you have to go to main menu (or list through some pages) after choosing another text style and everything will be fine

YAY - more dungeon crawling (I love that most!)

Ohhh baby... come to daddy...

Hi, you seemed to be lost on the Internets.
This is TouchArcade, where 2$ for a game is too much, 5$ is an outrage, and 10$ or more is putting sugar in their car tanks whilst killing puppies.

@ Frant

Those text formatting problems sound a little strange. We'll look into that immediately. As for the iPhone 4 reboot (which I assume is a crash?) please let us know what you were doing at the time and we can also check it out. The build has been very solid on iPhone 4 so it sounds a little unusual.

edit: I have investigated the text formatting problem and as you rightly point out there is an issue when changing text styles mid-game. As you have discovered quickly dashing out to the main menu and back into the book fixes this. Apologies for this - it's not something we noticed as we usually spend most of the time testing in one style! Our apologies - this will be fixed in the next update.

Follow us on the Tin Man Games blog and check out our latest Gamebook Adventures and Fighting Fantasy sites for links to our GA and FF apps!

iPhone 4 was charging via USB from my notebook and I was trying to change text style while making screenshots, after that I copied some screens to PC and tried to change text style again and it crushed once

memory was almost empty (1-3 apps were running)

btw, great game

Awesome news! Congrats to Tinman on another release. The GA series is going to eclipse Lone Wolf as my all-time favorite
