Initial Impressions (from the iPad version)

Quite a fun update of the classic arcade game. There are both a "story" campaign as well as endless modes with a good number of different locations/backgrounds. You can gain upgrades and powerups (freeze time, extra life, etc) as you go along. Two different player characters to choose from, although I haven't tried the female one yet so I don't know if it is purely a cosmetic change. Controls are a choice between either direct touch or virtual d-pad, and you can pause and change mid-game. Both work well but I found the d-pad gave more of a classic feel to the game. There also seems to be a few mini games that pop up during the campaign and can also be played on their own. Leaderboards and achievements through GameCenter. The Don Bluth animations are very well done.

There is no classic mode, as far as I can tell, unfortunately. It would have been a great unlockable. If you are a fan of the original, this is well worth the asking price.

Nice summary, quite right on the wrap-up.
The daughter is simply a cosmetic change, offering some eye candy.

Although I totally agree and would usually complain about not having the
unlockable true arcade mode in it, I feel this remake was done so well and
the price is so perfect, there's really no reason for me to gripe.

I'm so happy Don Bluth blessed this remake, it looks stellar on iPhone4!

I have had this situation once and after restart the device it seems to be normal till now.

Just trying this now. I was thinking on monday on itunes it prompted me to install the latest OS update so i wonder if thats affected it. Software version 4.3 updated on monday.
