Our first app finally hit the appstore
RPGplane works on every gen ipod, iphone and ipad.
Already working on updates, the first one if everything goes well will see the introduction of avatars, pre-made maps with monsters and checkers already set and dice rolls. We'll do our best to put in it all the stuff that the users ask for, providing the lowest price possible compared to other similar apps, and getting more and more features in it!

Update 1.1 :D

Just sent update 1.1 to Apple Should be out in a week or so, hopefully.
It includes:

48 tokens to customize your checker. There are dragons, cobolds, trolls, warriors and many many more
Pinch zoom in and out for both iPhone and iPad
A specific save file for each map, that loads monsters and objects as we would set them
8 new objects and 2 new maps

Feedback is really important for us (actually, two of the features were specifically requested by users), so please keep it going, we like to hear suggestions and criticisms

One of the screens that shows the whole token stuff:

Looks very cool, do you have a site or more videos that explain a little more about what you can do with this?

We're planning to do another couple of videos before the update comes out, and for now we've just got a little blog (http://rpgplane.wordpress.com)
RPGplane is basically made for those who play pen & paper rpg, like Dungeons & Dragons.
Since it's not bound to any rules, you can use it for everything you like, even games made by yourself. You can create how many checkers you want, giving them a name, an image, a color, a number (or another text), and dropping them into a map of your choice. You can also put objects such as treasures, armors, weapons.
Then you can set the fog density, and the field of view for each checker. If the field of view is set to 0, the checker becomes a monster, going under the fog and you're unable to see it unless it gets into the field of view of a checker.
And then you're ready to play! It takes more with words than with the actual app
We also received some requests of people who want to play alone. That's why we added the special save file for each map which load monsters and objects. Because if you add them yourself then you know where they are, and it's just not the same thing
Getting back with a video showing everything soon!

The new tokens are great. Any plans to allow users to import their own maps?

We're actually thinking about two ways of doing that. The first one would allow the user to simply import an image file of the size they want, that will be used as a map. The other one, would be to make the user able to draw maps directly on the device, using tiles.
We'll surely end up making both, but haven't yet decided on which one we should do first

Both options sound great. In one of the earlier posts there is a mention of adding dice, what is that going to be like?

We actually initially planned to include dice rolling in the first update, then it didn't make it, but it will be in the second one for sure.
Dice rolling will be both in game, as one of the icons of the menu, both in the main menu, to use it even if you're not playing.
The first version will be pretty basic. Once opened, there will be an icon for each type of dice. If you touch one, the dice with the results will appear on screen, and stay there until you close the menu.

Winning.

My take would be to allow imports initially, because users could put your app to use immediately on pre-existing campaigns they've already drawn up. If those files could also be downloaded...then you could very quickly increase your map database exponentially.

That would provide the time needed to implement a map creator, which may be a non-trivial task. Even if your plan is to release the tool you already use, there may be usability and/or interface issues you'll want to resolve first.
