Actually, I thought the demo was helpful in showing some unique elements in the gameplay.

In this SRPG, when you go into battle, its important to be aggressive and capture and hold key points on the map to allow more friendly units (and less of the enemies units) onto the battlefield at any given time. Also, every increase in the level of difficulty allows another unit the enemy can summon onto the battlefield, so for me, its fun to play on the highest difficulty (when the computer's units can out number my own by a 2-1 ratio).

Sometimes the battle can go on a long time, if you are unable to capture and hold additional barracks, but that is part of the fun.

So bottom line - if you like old school Strategy Role-Playing Games you must download the lite version and try it

Just read Mangobile announces a sequel, due in March 2011, called Nights in Andaria.

"The 2nd Swords & Earrings campaign Nights in Andaria takes place about 15 years before the events in Tales of Andaria. The player will take control of the Undeads."

Includes:

"14 new classes like Death Knight, Necromancer, Zombie, Heretic, Champion, Lizard or Wisp."

It doesn't mention the platforms yet (but I would assume the Andriod & Iphone like the first game)

EDIT: It's now called "Knighturn" coming out on March 28th for IOS devices

Per their website:

"While the core game play remains the same, there are plenty of changes based on suggestions of our customers:

Entirely overhauled control scheme (no more arrows)
Improved item system (more than 500 weapons, armor, and jewelry with a higher diversification)
Now more than 50 special skills (including high level skills past level 10)
14 new classes like Death Knight, Necromancer, Zombie, Heretic, Champion, Fury, or Lizard.
Improved graphics (still retro-style but richer in detail)"

Default Sword & Earrings update to v1.5 w/ new user interface (UI)

Sword & Earrings has now been updated to v1.5.

This is a very important update as it includes a major overhaul to the user interface (to have the same great features that Knighturn has).

Default Sw&Ear V.1.5 released

The new version 1.5 (released for iPhone / iPod yesterday) comes with some major changes.

First of all, the user interface has been completely overhauled and exchanged with the one used in Knighturn, the successor of Sw&Ear. In other words, the former 'retro-style-UI' based on arrows is a thing of the past.
(Here's the full story: Mangobile News & Blog)

To make the class assassin even more deadly than it is already, we also added a new Lvl. 11 skill 'Stealth Strike' (basically the same like the one used in Knighturn).

Last but not least, we overhauled some of our tilesets to get a cleaner retro-style look.
