"The visual look like an interesting mix of decent 8bit objects and gaudy backgrounds, and the soundtrack sounds like it might be chiptune greatness."

"Platform Hell: Turned Out To Be Bliss"
"Having played several levels, I had to pry my fingers from the iPhone just to type out this review, it is darn addictive. The graphics and soundtrack reflect the games objective of being a homage to retro games, and that to me, is just too cool."

Retro style platform game Platform Hell! available for iPhone

Platform Hell! is a retro style platform game with simple and addictive game play, containing many colorful levels.

In Platform Hell! the player has to dodge monsters and collect diamonds to open the exit to the next level. If the target time is beaten the player wins a medal. Complete all levels and collect a gold medal on each to complete the game. Levels are quick and fast paced, although mastering them all will take some time.

Platform Hell Pro ($0.99)
The Pro version of Platform Hell! contains 50 levels, which are unlocked after completion. It contains two modes, normal and random. Normal mode allows progression between stages in a regular order. Random mode presents the levels in an arbitrary order, even if the level has been previously unlocked.

Platform Hell (Free)
The free version of Platform Hell! will contain every level available in the paid version of the game. What’s the catch? Every time you start a new game you have to start at level one, like games used to be played back in the 80’s. The free game only contains normal mode.

Sweet. Starting off with the free version and we'll see how it goes

Some of those background images are downright garish... I love it! Reminds me of 8-bit gaming when people just didn't give a crap about bright colours and putting red next to pink.

I'm surprised to see this was released now. I didn't expect this on the app store anytime soon.

On level 4 now. Great old skool platforming. Sometimes the guy jumping is a bit fiddley but still plays well. Looks like it had lots of levels. Well worth it

Looks pretty good. Wish it had Game Center though instead of Openfeint...

Bought the pro version. Quality platformers just won't stop coming these days damn. The game is quite a bit of fun and is in the same vein as MS/LoE. I just hope that GameCenter is incorporated in the future.

Thanks for the comments.

Game center will be coming in a future release. I hope to make regular releases with extra levels - currently there are 50, I would like to double this within the next few months
