Can anyone tell me what's up with that? Am I missing something, a setting perhaps?
You need to click and change your playing style.

Too bad. I kinda like the way it looks in portrait and with the overlay. It's still works great and is a lot of fun the way it is but perhaps atari will give us these options in future updates. It would be a nice touch, as many of the games that are in portrait (like missile command and centipede) are harder to control with a joystick because they were originally trackball games, whereas games like asteroids and gravitar are somewhat improved with a joystick because they were originally all button controlled.

Thanks for the reminder. I remembered once I went there that I saw that when I first downloaded the app but was trying to find it under settings or options for some reason. I dunno why controls escaped me Anyway, I appreciate it but would still like to see some of the overlays available in future updates. Loving the arcade at home experience though! Excited to see support for pac-man and temple run recently too! They both rock with the icade!

I'm modding my iCade at the moment with new buttons and a new joystick so I thought other people might be interested in what's actually inside the thing. Basically real arcade parts but of a lower quality than what's inside my real Japanese arcade machine.

It shouldn't be too difficult or expensive to really upgrade the parts on this thing to proper arcade standards.

More pics in the above link.

Mods please move or delete this post if its against the rules etc.

.
I made a post a while back on how I upgraded mine.
The important part is how to plug the Sanwa stick to the existing cables; it's a game changer (no more deadzone).

Also, Pac-Man updated for iCade? Sweet!
Now that Namco-Bandai added support for one of its games, I truly, truly hope that the future SoulCalibur port will have iCade controls.
I mean, that's an iCade-seller right there.

I wonder if theres lots of other games out there which have iCade control but dont really mention it too much (as you're not 'meant' to mention it on the app store description).

I mean Pacman really surprised me, didnt come out and say iCade controls. Just hope Namco do that to their others, eg Rally-X.

I've got a lot of apps on my ipod, might copy over lots of my universal ones to my ipad and do a quick test to see if any others might work which i dont know about

Default Phoenix

Phoenix is a game that has a nostalgic place in my heart that I would like to see available for icade. However, I believe I remember it being a Taito title and so I might be SOL there. Zaxxon would be cool too.

Zaxxon works just fine in the iOS version of MIME with iCade / iCP (I've tested).

I haven't tested the ZX Spectrum / C64 version; they might also work in their respective (hackable) emulator (Spectaculator / Commodore 64) with the controller.

Does this require a jailbreak?
