Classic game, great to have it on iphone!
"Classic pinball game, excellent graphics completely lifelike physics. Little Wing does great pinball games for PCs and Macs and it's nice to have them for iphones too now."

Your kids have been playing Pinball Tristan in Rock'n'Play mode all evening, while you've been itching to get your hands on it for a crack at Arcade. You keep checking the clock, watching their bedtime inch closer. They look tired, maybe they should turn in early tonight. As soon as they're tucked in, it's your turn to have fun!

Pinball Tristan is a worldwide best selling, award winning game, born for the Mac in 1991. You're going to have trouble putting this one down. It's cool 3D retro graphics, full-fledged pinball challenge, precise physical implementation of ball movement, is enough to make any diehard pinballer drool.

This application has two faces. Pinball Tristan remains true to its classic roots, incorporating a toy-like cabinet with an old style mechanical score drum that will evoke memories of the authentic joy and excitement you felt from playing the original pinball machines. At the same time, this is a new type of pinball with two modes.

Arcade Mode lets you experience real, challenging arcade pinball like it was meant to be played. This is the type of pinball game that you drooled over but couldn't afford when you were kid. Well, at only $1.99, you don't have that problem anymore.

If you're just starting out, try the Rock'n'Play Mode. Freely adjust the board angle by tilting your device, roll the ball in the opposite direction by tipping the device away from your body. Practice flipper control with a shelving angle or try a quick combo play. It's all lights, sounds and action yet is easier to play than Arcade.

This app can be all about technique, if you want it to be. Go ahead and experiment with the nudging function, the pass flip, reverse pass flip, return lane transfer, holding lift, dead flipper bounce, alley pass, slide and hit, live catchdo we need to go on, you get the idea. There are tons of different plays you can use to rock the pinball.

While all that action is going on, why not listen to some great, motivating music? Pinball Tristan lets you play your favorite tunes by using your Apple iPod function. So, you've got pinball action and your favorite music what could be better, except maybe ranking number one in the World Competition?

Compare your game to others and track your ranking through the Game Center. See how your scores look.

Fujibayashi's comments:
Happy to relay some info - Little Wing, a charming small Japanese company who have published several very nice Mac pinball games in the last decade or so - have just released their first iOS release, Pinball Tristan!

It's very much like the old Tomy toy pinball "Atomic Arcade", and has great physics / controls!

it's available now in the app store,

I've played pinball in the best decade of the world: 1980-89.
Now I'm full of it.

I love this world!

Holy crap, this is the real deal if you're looking for something that feels like "real" pinball, no doubt.

While I'm no pinball aficionado per se, I did always gravitate first and foremost to pinball machines in the arcades in the late 80s and 90s, and I've bought every major pinball release on the app store that I've been able to find, so I can confidently say this is the one with the most genuine feel to the physics. While most other pinball apps leave at least something to be desired, this one sure feels right to me--ball weight, flippers, bounce, and the tilt. I suck at juggling off the slingshots, but I'm fully confident this can be done here, and drop catches feel perfect.

The table design is pretty nifty. I haven't had time to delve into all the scoring depth but there sure looks to be plenty of it. I prefer tables with more atmosphere and a theme to them (love the Last Gladiator pinball tables because they feel like the ones I'd get hooked on back in the early-mid 90s) and the visual design here is really vanilla, but it doesn't matter too much.

The Arcade mode is the "normal" one, with the authentic feel, whereas Rock'n' Play allows you to move the ball around with tilt, which is nice for playing around to see how the table scores. You can play in a static, zoomed-out view or with a flying view. I prefer the static one, but the flying view isn't as distracting to me as it is in some others.

You can only play in portrait mode, which is kind of a shame to me, since I strongly prefer to play in landscape, but it's not too crowded due to the way the table is zoomed out (or how the camera follows the ball).

I can only hope that Little Wing will release more tables, or some IAP tables in this app (even better, actually, if you ask me), or failing that, some IAP themes for this one that would make it a little more atmospheric.

Overall, for $1.99 an absolute must have for any iOS owning pinball fan. For the physics and realism alone I would have to give it a 5/5 on Apple's rating scale.

This thing is a beaut.

This game simply has the best physics / controls of any pinball yet on an iOS platform. Period. the OoO Gameprom tables were very beautiful, fun, and shiny, with an ultra-slick interface...

But as was said above, this inexpensive slice of awesome is the real deal.

Just finished playing it for a while, and it's just beautiful. I expected the physics to be top-drawer, having played all of Little Wing's other Mac pinballs, but it just absolutely feels *right* on my iPad2, and I noticed no droppage in the performance on the much slower iPhone 3GS. I cannot wait for the other LittleWing tables to get ported, iOS players who are strangers to Little Wing pins are in for one *heck* of a pleasant surprise if they continue to release their tables in this fashion. If you need further convincing on Little Wing's absolute mastery of the genre, visit their website (if you have a Mac) and treat yourself to a trial version of Mad Daedalus, their newest. I wish them every success, and I am envious of the iOS players settling down to a LW pin for the first time. :-)

Can only repeat what has been said above.

The table may look basic, but it's great. The physics are much better than anything else on iOS.

I would say though, having looked at a YouTube of the old PC version - it has real physics, not those gamey physics from the 90's version.

So by "best" this is better than the pinball games Gameprom puts out?

Anyone play both that can compare?
