TGND, what is the duel mode like?

I don't think this is one of those games where you'll never be able to make any reasonable progress without it. Frankly, I think it's a crime that they are giving away something that is this unique, fun, and slickly produced. But I understand they are just trying to make a living.

Heck I was enjoying this so much, I was tempted to buy something i wanted to pay them for the game. What I'll probably do instead is try and find one of their other games to buy, but when I looked on the store yesterday, none of them had as much instant appeal.
I wasn't talking about you, and I'm glad you are enjoying it without the need to buy consumables. Unfortunately for the developer, this of course means that he isn't making any money off of you. I would prefer to buy the full game ONCE either up front or via in app purchase rather than play a crippled game for free, or "rent" a good game via IAP consumables.

To the Android ranter: yes, I know Android has the same functionality. That was my point. In fact, it's the only way developers can make any money on that platform.

These types of IAP consumables prey on players with little or no restraint/self control, effectively making them pay the way for themselves AND the rest of us.

I do too. Particularly Everlands and Radiant.

And, as it turns out, I love this freakin game. As much as I hate consumables, I may buy some coins just so the dev can make some money off of me (I bought all his other games), even though the thought of encouraging this trend toward consumables rankles me.

I would agree. I would find that distasteful as well. However, I simply don't think that's the case here, at least in the first few hours. This game doesn't feel crippled in any way.

My preference would have been for a game that sold for a couple of dollars without the IAP, but this is what we've been handed, and I think dismissing the game solely for that reason is a shame.

Yeah, I actually just bought Everlands, as it looked the most interesting to me of their other titles.

Who cares if there are IAPs? If you don't want them or don't like them, don't buy them. It doesn't make a game better or worse - except in your mind - if they are in there.

Yeah, I have been having the same problem. I tried to purchase any of the three IAP multiple times and it just says "purchase failed" everytime.

edit: I sent hexage an email, we'll see how quickly I hear back from them and how quickly this gets fixed.
