I got a reply from hexage and they told me they are working on fixing the problem. No surprise there, so I guess we'll wait and see.

If consumables aren't necessary for a full experience then the developer will lose money as players skip them en masse. It's more likely, however, that the game is balanced toward the use of consumables, and that I'm not getting the full experience/fun/whatever without them.

That being said, however, this is a very fun game, and I will probably make in IAP to support the dev, in spite of the fact that I really don't want to encourage this business model.

While the three IAPs are for consumable items if you purchase any one of the three then there is a recharge node also unlocked with your purchase. This recharge node allows you to play without ever running out of energy, which could happen from losing too many fights. So in effect it allows you to lose battles and still gain experience, which means you can lose battles intentionally to gain experience. This would allow you gain levels and coins, so really you won't need to make any more purchases after your first.

I really like this, I've played maybe 5 hours now, but I think it will grow old at some point. I wish there were some kind of meta-strategy layer to the global map so that there was a reason to pick one node vs another aside from the difficulty and energy reqs.

This is such a cool concept, but I think maybe they could do even a bit more with it.

It's been fixed. Or at least I was finally able to purchase the smallest IAP late last night.

Yeah, Hexage dropped my an email this morning and basicly said that it was just the appstore lagging on making it available for purchase. So everything should be golden now.

The visual style of this game is amazing. And it's pretty fun to play, but I question the longevity.

I agree with someone earlier, who said there could be a "meta-game" surrounding the core battle system. There is major potential here, if the devs are up for it. This could be something special with more meat on the bones.

I really appreciate they made it free. Generally I'm anti-IAP, but depending on what they do with this game in the future, I would be willing to throw some money their way if they take this to the next level.

The cheapest iap is 99 cents. You get all the perm items as the more expensive ones. I don't see the valid complaint.

Without trying to sound like too much of a jerk, this was already posted earlier in thread and the problem was actually already fixed by the time you posted this as that was also previously posted in the thread. Reading an entire thread is always useful.
