Whatever, the card art (is that so important?) is not my cup of tea/coffee, I am getting it anyway...
Humm, no listing regarding the IAP prices on Apps Store, strange... Last edited by currymutton; 07-12-2011 at 11:46 PM.. |

I have to say, this is the first fantasy card game I've tried that I am finding immediately engaging. Still far from understanding the nitty gritty but feel genuinely drawn to playing as opposed to my usual card game experience where I am playing in the hope that something clicks and I'll begin having fun. So far so good.

Really nice game but with a few minor issues...
The graphics on the iPad are just upscaled iPhone graphics and do look very chunky and blocky The button to skip a turn is a legitimate in-game option yet has to be accessed from the Pause menu A card summoned this turn cannot attack but has no visual indication that this is the case - some kind of summoning sickness visualisation would be nice No deck building capability at least in the 'Tower' - you seem to accumulate more cards as you ascend the tower but you have no way to manage these new additions - I assume they just get added to your deck. This could be part of the overall design mechanics though ... Not sure on this one... Anyway I like it so far! Jamie |

I'm a bit dissappointed that it is a copy paste of Spectromancer cards, exccept with worse art, fewer cards and bizzare card names. I liked Spectromancer as a concept and I hoped this would be a fresh take to that style of TCG, especially since we were told this game is to Spectromancer what Spectromancer was to Astral Masters (which are two almost completely different games).
This aside, I always wanted to be able to play Spectromancer on my iPad, and this app, despite not being advertised as such, is basically a port of Spectromancer to iDevices. Hopefully the other 6 classes from Spectromancer will also be added, as the game feels pretty empty with only 4. The game runs smoothly despite some questionable UI choices like placing the skip turn button in the pause menu, the place where the health of players is displayed or the distance between kards. The iPad version is simply the iPhone version with some graphical adjustments to make it look smooth. Overall, if you like this genre or iPhone games like Orions or Shadow Era, than you have nothing to loose by trying this app, especially since it's free (I think you have to spend at least 1$ in-game to be able to play first though, not sure since I bought the 3$ package). With some updates including new cards and making the UI look sharper on the iPad, I'd give it a 5-star rating. |

Is the game in any way officially linked to Spectromancer? I just checked sprectromancer's card list and the texts are exactly the same. I fear the game could be pulled before long if Spectromancer's creators complain about the rip-off (if this is one).

Ah thanks for that, I didn't think to check the official description. Lame, sorry. I'll buy the four mages then!
