I do...This game doesnt exactly offer much else so might as well play favorite even if its the weak one. And of course, Chimical is weak. You just need to evolve him or use his type-advantage moves to make him a viable. If you are all about stat, i'm sure his base stat for his final form will shape into or about on a decent par with the starters' base stat.

I don't find chimacal weak, I've got the 3rd level of him (the lvl 50 mutation) and he has several very strong attacks and pretty good stats.

You should def do the update. People like it when they get constant updates because it shows that developers still care about those games.

Sounds like a quite keeper. Oh and I think I meant to say wait till chimical evolve and he will be strong.
