Decent side-scrolling/platforming KRPG. See what you can get out of it I guess. Found Illusia and MapleThief to be more fun personally, but you can check this one out if you're interested in the genre. It's free.

And to think that I bought the game when it was @ $0.99, played a couple of hours and then backlogged it.

Get it while it's free~

6 weeks is actually quite a long time for games that don't sell well these days on the AppStore to go free. You know that.

Samurai Girl had a lot of buzz on release and plays well so I was hoping the developers would be rewarded enough to produce further content.

It's nice that games get cheap/free but with each deal I'm sure developer confidence slides.

Never said it was a good thing people got to take advantage of developers during these sales, but yeah, of course it hurts their confidence. It didn't get that much buzz. There was never even a TA article about it. The main thread did alright, but that wasn't enough to get it onto the top 200 for more than three days. There's better KRPGs out there in any case..

I had some interest in this back when it was a pay app, so I thought I'd check it out now that it's free, and ended up feeling pretty mixed about it--glad I waited.

On the positive side, it's of course very pretty, and the music is good too.

On the negative side, it should never have been released on the iPhone. In addition to the standard problem of virtual imitations of real inputs in an action game, the interface is huge, static, opaque, and only about 10% of it is actually functional. And yet in contrast, the menus, e.g. shops, skill tree, etc., all use ridiculously tiny, unusable buttons.

There's a good game buried in there, it's just that it's on the wrong system and has a poorly thought-out UI. At least the Engrish dialogue is good for a few laughs.

Is it just me or does this game run in super-hyperspeed mode?

Running it on an iPad 2 - both 1x and 2x modes seem bugged!
