Well...technically iOS 5 on a 2g device is really just a heavily modded version of 3.1.3 so no you wouldnt be able to run apps that require ios 5. And if you used whited00r to put ios 5 on your device you will still be able to buy apps from the AppStore and retain full functionality.

You'd also probably get a lot more crashes, since iOS5 uses more RAM than 4. Expect less stability and maybe even slowdowns.

Definitely. I'd stay on a jailbroken version of the official 3.1.3 ipsw until you decide to upgrade to a newer device.

Hey Dubstep, can you help me.
I just updated bytafont in cydia and resprung my springboard and now i cant even connect to the internet. I even deleted it and a couple other apps from cydia i had. What can i do to fix this problem, without having to restore my ipod?

Can someone tell me how I install a .ipa file into a jailbroken ipad 2? Im trying to install CS Portable (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1447157) I have the ipa downloaded but im not sure where to get from there.

Installing .ipas is basically pirating, which isnt allowed here, even though that app isnt pirated. The method to install it would most likely be the same as the pirates use so I don't think anyone will be posting it.

got my hands on a 3GS. I successfully JB'd and corona'd on my own. Went to unlock - speedbump
Baseband 5.16.05 & serial 83928ekpnp, used redsnow to try to install iPad BB. tried many times.. errored out each time (I hope I didn't fry the BB forever!)

anything I can do, short of sending it off to an expert? I have been reading a lot of worrisome things online..

Weird. I've never heard of that issue...try sshing into your device and go to var/stash/applications and delete bytafont that way...is your wifi not working or your 3G? You may have to restore to fix that issue man. I googled it too and no one else seems to have had that issue

Can't tell you how to do that because it involves using piracy tools.

What firmware are you on? Sounds like you just downloaded a bad copy of redsn0W. Try downloading it from a different source. If that fails google "custom firmware for 3GS" and get the firmware you're on and just restore to tht custom firmware. You can install the iPad baseband on all 3GS don't worry you didn't break it
