If I jailbreak my ipod with something like greenpois0n, will I still be able to purchase items from the itunes store?

Also, how good is the sega genesis emulator?

If that fails google "custom firmware for 3GS" and get the firmware you're on and just restore to tht custom firmware. You can install the iPad baseband on all 3GS don't worry you didn't break it

yes I did, after a couple of scary moments ("ah it crashed out while dowloading baseband, it's gotta be ruined for sure!")

I'm trying to jailbreak my ipod with greenpois0n, but it just keeps on putting my ipod in recovery mode. Do you know what I'm doing wrong? Are there any other programs that are easier to use?

I have a 2g ipod touch.

What is telling you that your iPod is in recovery mode? iTunes? Because you shouldn't have it open while jailbreaking...

Greenpoison should automatically jailbreak as soon as it detects that your device is in DFU mode, so it is probably just a case of slightly off timing with the button presses. Just try again and it should eventually work.

I've read this entire thread I am considering the jailbreak. I really want to play ROMS on my ipod touch :<. I just have a few questions.

1. When I back up my ipod touch via iTunes, is it safe to do this with jailbreak + jailbreak apps? or should I just do one final backup on itunes before jailbreaking and use that if something goes wrong? Should I use a different backup program with the jailbreak apps?

2. I'm assuming that a DFU restore is just restoring the ipod touch on itunes while in DFU mode, is this correct?

3. How do you get ROMS on your device? I know how to install the apps, but how do you add ROMS to it? (I'm talking about in general. I don't know which specific app I want yet). I don't need to know where to get ROMS but I mean how do you get them on your device.

4. I know the ipod touch doesn't have as much memory as other devices. Will it still be fast enough to play SNES/NES/gba/gbc games without crashing/significant lag.

5. Is there anything specific I should do before jailbreaking (ex. backing up before performing)

Thanks in advance.
P.S. I'm on an ipod touch 4 running 5.0.1

1. Yes you can still backup in iTunes just fine with your jailbreak apps.

2. Yes a dfu restore is just that.

3. Most emulators have a built in downloader. Some games need to be extracted/converted on a computer though. You copy the rom into the correct location which is var/mobile/media/ROMs

4. Yes your 4th gen iPod should run those no problem. Save constantly cuz some emulators don't support fast app switching.

5. Restore your device and dont restore from back up. Start fresh.

Restore and set it up as a new device? Would that cause me to lose progress in my apps? How could I prevent that from happening?
