1) Restore your device to factory settings

2) If you have an appointment with an Apple Genius to review your issue, there is a good chance they will take your phone in the back and basically swap it out with a refurbished model. This has happened to me on a few occasions. They'll typically sync all your data back for you while they're in the back, however this is entirely dependent upon them having phones readily available, which is why I schedule an appointment and let them know ahead of time that I am having a hardware issue that likely needs replacement.

Since you're on an A4 device, however, you can upgrade to 5.1 and use redsn0w 0.9.10b6b to jailbreak tethered for the time being, and unless you're constantly rebooting or running out of power, it's nothing to worry about.

Plus, there have been lots of battery life problems associated with 5.0.1 that 5.1 solved (it did for me) and it shouldn't be very long until there is an untethered solution for 5.1.
Actually, he can upgrade to 5.0.1. If your previous iOS was jailbroken, Cydia should have saved the APTicket and an SHSH automatically.

But that's true only if he had jailbroken on 5.0.1, yes? The way I read him, he had never gone above 4.2.6; good if you want to downgrade from 5+ back to 4, but no good if you want to go up to 5.0.1 having never done it before.

Hello, and thank you for your help.

Here is my problem.

I have a 3Gs iPhone, in 5.1.
I tried to install Cydia and install ipad BB with ultrasn0w 0.9.10b6.
But I have an error message :
Assertion Failure allocate (233)

I tried to just install Cydia and then ultrasn0w and fixer for 5.1
I still doesn't find any network.

Thank you !

It depends on what version of iOS you're running. If you mean 5.1, no, not yet.

There is currently no publicly available jailbreak for 5.1 on any A5 device, including the 4S.

No. Assuming you're wanting to go back to 5.0.1, you couldn't do it on an iPad 2 even if you had them.
