Default If I jailbreak my phone...

Will I lose my in-application saves? In other words, will I lose the save points I am at in different games and highscores I have saved?

Yes you will.
It will reset everything to the way it came but with cydia and/or installer. You would then have to sync everything back on.

Syncing isn't a big deal though. You just restore it and wait a while. You'll have everything you used to plus Cydia and Installer.

PS: Back up the phone on iTunes before you jailbreak it so when you restore it it will be exactly how it was before you jailbroke it.

Cool

Thats brutal. This means I will lose all my logs in iFitness as well as various games I am progressing through (BaseballSuperstars, Geodefense, Uniwar, ZenBound, Appsniper, Asphalt, Bookworm.) I'd love to jailbreak but I cant lose all the progress I've made in these various apps.

Well,

1. If you're jailbreaking for the first time you don't have to restore so no you won't lose anything.
2. If you backup everything you won't lose any saved data. You just have to restore from that backup.

Did you hear what we just said? All you do is back up your phone before you jailbreak and you won't lose anything.

This would be my first jailbreak. Why would I not have to restore the first time?

If I restore from a backup, is saved application data stored in that backup? In other words, if I restore my phone right now, will I come back to my games at the same point I left off before restoring my phone? I don't want to lose the progress I've made in various games. More important is the workouts I have setup and the logs of exercises I have in iFitness.

Maybe I have misunderstood. Sorry. So you're confirming that a "restore from backup" will save in-application data such as game saves?

The only time you have to restore before jailbreaking is when you update your firmware.

Yes, when you back up your phone it will back up your in app saved data.

Yes, and yes. After you jailbreak, (assuming you restored before jailbreaking) open iTunes. It should recognize the iDevice. But it will ask if you want to set up as a new iDevice or restore from a previous backup. Choose restore from a previous backup and your applications will sync back along with the backup. The restore from backup feature isn't there for nothing.

You don't need to do that unless you're updating. Just plug in your phone and run QuickPWN. Whenever it's done you'll still have all your stuff plus Cydia and or Installer.
